Job Summary:
Responsible for performing professional accounting work in insurance/reinsurance operations, including retrocession reinsurance oversight, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards. Compiles, prepares, and maintains financial data and records in accordance with SAP and established company policies.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Perform technical accounting work in accordance with SAP and support quarterly/annual financial reporting
  • Prepare and review key financial reconciliations, reports, and analysis to meet internal group requirements
  • Ensure key controls and reconciliations are effectively maintained with adherence to Sarbanes Oxley control framework
  • Support quarter-end and year-end close processes in accordance with company and regulatory deadlines
Reinsurance Operations
  • Serve as finance contact for retrocession reinsurance cover and ensure contracts are recorded correctly in underwriting and accounting systems
  • Arrange payment of ceded premiums and manage billing/collection of reinsurance recoveries
  • Reconcile investment schedules and handle regulatory investment limitation requests
System Management & Analysis
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile underwriting reports to ensure accurate accounting records
  • Process broker statements and verify accuracy against contract terms, querying discrepancies with underwriters/brokers
  • Research statutory accounting practices and procedures as required
Audit & Stakeholder Management
  • Assist with internal and external audit reviews for annual audited financial statements
  • Liaise with stakeholders on reinsurance accounting queries and matters

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred
  • 2-5 years of insurance/reinsurance accounting experience, with statutory accounting experience preferred
  • Experience working with general ledger and underwriting systems
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Maintains high level of professionalism, integrity, and trust
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in team environment

The salary range for this role is between:
$105,000 - $120,000
The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment. Base salary represents one component of Allied World's comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.
