Job Description
Elitecare Medical Staffing is seeking two skilled and dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) for the Recovery Unit (PACU) in Anacortes, Washington. This role is crucial for providing high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care in the Preop and PACU settings, ensuring patient safety and comfort during recovery.
  • Monitor patients in Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery, assessing vital signs and levels of consciousness.
  • Maintain a nurse-patient ratio of 1:1 for admissions in Preop and up to 5 for discharges; PACU ratio of 1:2, escalating to 1:1 for airway management.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to protocols and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families about recovery processes and post-operative care.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Unit Details
  • Preop Beds: 10 beds
  • PACU Beds: 4 beds
  • Common Cases: Orthopedic procedures (hips, knees, shoulders), ortho spine, TLIF, hernias, lap chole, OB, GYN procedures, hysteroscopy, hysterectomy, urology (cysto, prostate), ENT cases (twice a month), pediatric cases (tubes, tonsils, adenoids), endoscopy.
Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
  • Required Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Minimum of [insert years] years of nursing experience in recovery or critical care preferred.
  • Strong critical care skills and knowledge of cardiac rhythms.
  • Familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred.
Additional Information
  • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse for both PACU and outpatient; typically does not take patient assignments. Coordinator available as needed.
  • Respiratory Therapy Equipment: No vents; patients on vents go directly to ICU.
  • ICU Recovery: ICU patients do not recover in PACU.
  • RN Responsibilities: RNs are responsible for reading cardiac strips.
