Job description

Are you passionate about transforming transportation operations through financial insights? We're seeking a Financial Analyst to drive cost management and strategic planning for Amazon's middle mile over-the-road transportation network. In this role, you'll leverage finance tools, including Cognos and internal AI applications, to build innovative reporting solutions that surface critical insights and optimize one of the world's largest transportation operations.
You'll have broad exposure to the full spectrum of Amazon's transportation operations, from traditional cost analysis to supporting technology initiatives that enhance productivity and reduce costs. This is an opportunity to make a measurable impact on a massive scale while developing your skills in financial modeling, analysis, and planning within a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Key job responsibilities
-Build financial and operational reports that inform business decision-making for fixed and variable cost centers across transportation operations
-Extract and analyze data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and completeness, delivering timely insights to stakeholders
-Develop new reports and analytical tools to manage costs and surface insights in the transportation space using Cognos, internal AI applications, and other finance platforms
-Support financial planning cycles including month-end close, forecasts, and operating plans while implementing controls to enhance financial controllership
-Partner with business operations and finance teams to analyze transportation cost drivers and recommend process improvements that increase productivity and reduce costs
A day in the life
You'll start your day analyzing transportation cost data, identifying trends and anomalies that impact middle mile operations. You'll collaborate with business partners to understand their evolving needs, then design and build dynamic reports using advanced finance tools and AI applications. Throughout the day, you'll investigate cost variances, cross-check data across systems, and prepare insights for stakeholders. You'll also work on automation projects that streamline financial processes, while learning from senior team members who help you grow your expertise in transportation finance.

We are the finance team responsible for middle mile over-the-road transportation, partnering closely with operations teams to manage costs and drive efficiency across Amazon's transportation network. Our team plays a critical role in enabling Amazon's delivery promise by providing financial insights that shape strategic decisions and operational improvements.

You'll work alongside experienced finance professionals who are eager to mentor and support your growth, while contributing to initiatives that directly impact how millions of packages move through Amazon's logistics network each day.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of finance experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- Experience in TM1, Data Warehouse and SQL

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
