The primary responsibility of the MAPs Coach is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building skills for employment, independent living, community involvement, and meaningful leisure activities. This role provides participants with the tools, technology, and guidance needed to achieve their self-identified goals. The position requires a flexible schedule based on participant needs and may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends. The MAPs Coach reports to the MAPs Director and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individualized services in home, community, and virtual settings.

Develop and carry out individualized service plans based on participant goals.

Teach life skills that support MAPs goals, including home safety, hygiene, health, employment, financial literacy, and community engagement.

Assess participants needs and recommend appropriate enabling technology.

Set up and train participants to use technology such as tablets, apps, smart devices, Amazon Alexa, and VR tools like Meta Quest.

Develop service plans before services begin and complete all required documentation, including case notes, progress updates, and supporting evidence.

Support milestone completion, conduct assessments, and track outcomes.

Use tools such as VCRM to support person-centered planning.

Communicate regularly with participants, families, and team members.

Maintain a reliable schedule and always demonstrate professionalism.

Schedule the next service before ending the current session.

Required Skills

Basic understanding of technology and related tools.

Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification, Medication Administration training, Relias, MAPS, and any other required training or certifications within assigned timeframes.

Strong verbal, written, and active listening skills.

Basic computer and tablet skills, including typing and providing remote support.

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.

Ability to maintain consistent attendance and reliability.

All other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Conditions

This position requires the employee to sit, stand, walk, and drive for varying periods of time. The employee must also be able to assist participants with ambulation, bathing, dressing, transfers, and toileting as needed. Duties may involve bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and

lifting up to 50 pounds. This is a community-based role that requires travel and includes both in-person and virtual service delivery. The schedule must be flexible and may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. This is a full-time, non-exempt position based on a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Valid Tennessee Class D driver's license required.

Experience using technology to support life skills is preferred.

Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to teach and break complex skills into simple steps.

Comfort with technology and the ability to learn new tools quickly.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work independently in community-based environments.

Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic situations.

Other Requirements

TB skin test or assessment within 30 days of employment

Successful clearance of background check prior to employment

Ability to pass any required security clearance prior to or post-employment.

Ability to achieve required certifications for MAPs
