Senior Storage Engineer

Location: Arnold, MO (On Customer Site)

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade, and support various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and other related technologies.
  • Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required.
  • Participate in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in alignment with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes.
  • Incident support and participation in on-call rotation during off hours and weekends.
  • Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books, and other technical engineering documents.
  • Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes.
  • Oversee the installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee the updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security.
  • Ensure systems are monitored, and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc. are collected and regularly reviewed.
  • Keep abreast of current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Intellectix staff in assessing the future direction of storage and backup technology.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination.
  • Hands-on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts.
  • Experience with SAN, NAS, and iSCSI storage implementations.
  • Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments.
  • Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies.
  • Senior-level experience with design, development, implementation, and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers.
  • Strong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in a storage environment.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet.
  • Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc.
  • Understanding of security best practices, federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.).
  • CompTIA Security+ or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification.
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to take direction.

  • NetApp Certification.
  • PowerShell/Python scripting experience.
  • Experience leveraging scripts to audit and enforce configuration standards.
  • Amazon Web Services / C2S experience.
