ABOUT THE ROLE

FOX ONE is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead end-to-end quality engineering across our platform and customer experiences. This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering role for someone who views quality as a core engineering discipline and can influence how products are built, tested, released, and monitored at scale.

As a Staff SDET, you will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Delivery teams from the earliest stages of planning through production. You will ensure quality is designed into the development lifecycle rather than validated at the end. By understanding product requirements, customer journeys, and platform architecture, you will proactively identify risks, define testing strategies, and build automation capabilities in parallel with feature development.

You will help establish and evolve FOX ONE's quality engineering platform, creating scalable frameworks and tooling that support multiple products, clients, and engineering teams. This role requires a systems thinker who can architect testing solutions across complex distributed environments while remaining deeply hands-on in implementation.

The ideal candidate combines expert-level software engineering skills, deep experience in test automation, a strong product mindset, and an AI-first approach to engineering. You are comfortable challenging assumptions, influencing technical direction, and driving quality outcomes across teams. Most importantly, you understand that quality extends beyond pre-release testing and requires continuous validation of customer experiences throughout the product lifecycle.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineering, Operations, and Delivery teams during discovery, planning, and design phases to ensure quality requirements and risks are identified early

  • Translate product requirements, business objectives, and customer journeys into scalable testing strategies and automated validation frameworks

  • Build testing frameworks, tooling, and automation capabilities in parallel with feature development to ensure launch readiness

  • Define quality gates, release criteria, and launch-readiness standards across FOX ONE products and platforms

  • Design and implement end-to-end testing architectures that validate customer experiences across web, mobile, connected TV, backend services, APIs, and platform integrations

  • Own testing strategy for platform capabilities that impact multiple products, engineering teams, and stakeholder groups

  • Develop automated test data generation, environment configuration, and orchestration capabilities that support continuous testing at scale

  • Create automated regression suites that continuously validate critical user journeys across supported clients and platforms

  • Build automated validation for complex experiences such as Multiview, authentication, entitlement, subscription, commerce, content discovery, playback, and live streaming workflows

  • Ensure Multiview and other platform capabilities are automatically tested across supported devices, configurations, content types, and playback scenarios

  • Develop automated monitoring, reporting, and quality intelligence capabilities that proactively identify playback, performance, integration, and customer experience issues

  • Continuously validate customer journeys before and after release to ensure production experiences remain healthy, reliable, and performant

  • Drive the evolution of FOX ONE's quality engineering platform, testing frameworks, and automation capabilities

  • Establish scalable quality engineering practices that can be adopted across multiple product and engineering teams

  • Leverage AI-powered tools and workflows to improve test generation, automation coverage, defect analysis, maintenance, and engineering productivity

  • Influence engineering decisions, testing architecture, and quality strategy across the FOX ONE ecosystem

  • Mentor engineers and champion quality engineering best practices throughout the organization

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 7+ years' experience as an SDET, Software Engineer in Test, Quality Engineer, or similar engineering role supporting large-scale consumer-facing products

  • Expert-level Python development skills with the ability to build frameworks, tooling, automation services, and quality engineering platforms

  • Strong proficiency working within TypeScript-based application environments, including the ability to read, debug, and collaborate effectively with application engineering teams

  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing end-to-end testing architectures across multiple products, services, platforms, and customer journeys

  • Experience building automated testing solutions for web, mobile, connected TV, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems

  • Proven ability to partner directly with Product Managers and engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle

  • Experience proactively identifying quality risks and defining testing strategies before implementation begins

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native applications, and modern engineering practices

  • Experience building automated test data management, environment configuration, and test orchestration solutions

  • Demonstrated success creating continuous testing capabilities that validate customer experiences throughout development and production

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate complex issues across interconnected systems

  • Ability to influence technical decisions and drive alignment across engineering, product, operations, and delivery organizations

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • AI-first mindset with experience leveraging modern AI-assisted engineering and testing tools to improve quality, efficiency, and scale

  • Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace a minimum of 3 days per week is an essential function of the position. Selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience supporting streaming, OTT, live video, or direct-to-consumer subscription platforms

  • Experience validating video playback, Multiview experiences, live events, content entitlement, commerce, and subscription workflows

  • Experience testing across connected TV platforms including Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Samsung, LG, and gaming consoles

  • Experience with Playwright, Pytest, Appium, Selenium, or similar automation frameworks

  • Experience building AI-powered testing solutions, intelligent test generation, autonomous testing capabilities, or quality engineering copilots

  • Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures

  • Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and production quality validation practices

  • Experience building platform-level quality engineering solutions used across multiple engineering teams

  • Experience supporting highly available, customer-facing products operating at scale

  • Passion for improving software quality through automation, engineering excellence, and continuous innovation
