Job description

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The mission of Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) is to leverage the Leo space network and provide high speed, low latency, and secure satellite broadband services to United States and allied government customers. This position will be working on the Product Management Team within ALG with significant interaction with the Leo Government Business Development team and Government customers.

Key job responsibilities
We have an immediate opening for a Sr Solutions Architect to support the Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) team focusing on DoD customers. This position will be based in in the Northern Virginia area. This position will be part of the ALG team working with Business Development and customers to define Leo Government families of products within Project Leo's broadband space network for high throughput, low latency broadband communications. This is a unique opportunity to innovate and define new communications technology with few legacy constraints. The team develops requirements and architectures for Leo Government products and analyzes performance such as overall throughput, latency, and system availability. This team also works closely with customers, business development and the engineering team to ensure that the product will meet customer requirements and presents a good business opportunity for Amazon Leo for Government.
In this role you will:
• Work with business development and customers to help understand and refine their use cases and operational problems to solve
• Work with Engineering to invent new products or product features
• Write product roadmaps, product description documents, and engineering requirements documents for products and product families
• Create detailed product requirements documents based on an intimate knowledge of the specific customer verticals (local, state, federal, DoD, intelligence community) including use case prioritization, feature definition and product roadmap
• Work with leadership team to set the customer strategy and make appropriate high-judgment trade-offs between features and speed-to-launch
• Research and identify new opportunities to innovate on behalf of our customers
• Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk and escalations, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints
• Write proposals based on product and service offerings of the ALG Team.
Security Clearance: This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- 3+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- 8+ experience managing product development for satellite technologies and satellite communications systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
- 3+ years of satellite communications ground systems and operations experience
- Experience with networking fundamentals
- 5+ years of work with U.S. Federal customers experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
