Job description

Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Optical Reliability Engineer to join our OISL Reliability team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the long-term reliability and performance of optical systems, components, and subsystems - including optical amplifiers and laser-based technologies. You will work cross-functionally with design, systems, and test engineering teams to develop and execute reliability strategies that meet product quality and lifetime requirements.

You will have the opportunity to work on state of the art optical technologies, collaborate with world-class engineers, and make a direct impact on product quality and customer satisfaction.
Key job responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain reliability models and frameworks for optical and electrical components
Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), fault tree analysis (FTA), and root cause analysis (RCA) for optical systems and subsystems
Define and execute accelerated life testing (ALT) and highly accelerated life testing (HALT) programs for optical components
Apply reliability growth models, Weibull analysis, and other statistical tools to predict and improve product lifetime
Collaborate with system-level engineering teams to assess and improve overall system reliability and availability
Establish reliability requirements and verification plans for new product development programs
Develop and maintain reliability documentation including test plans, reports, and specifications
Support qualification and validation activities for optical and electrical components and assemblies
Communicate reliability findings and recommendations to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
