Job Description

Title: Devops Engineer

Location: NYC, NY

Duration: 6 months with extension

Preferably, someone with 5 year experience as software engineer working in devops environment.

Responsibilities:

         You will onboard application engineering teams to our platform, answer
questions and gather feedback about the standard operation of our tools.

         You will become an expert on our provisioning and configuration management
tools and our monitoring and alerting stacks, and work with teams to
ensure their applications are up to our standards in using these tools.

         You will help provide reviews of a team's application architecture, and
flag potential issues in terms of scaling and performance.

         You will occasionally provide launch and live event support.

         You will spend some portion of your day executing operational tasks, and improving and automating these tasks.

         You will occasionally augment the staff of other teams to help complete
software initiatives, as well as occasionally work with the Core
Engineering development team to improve our own tooling.

Desired Skills & Experience:

         Software development experience with one or more of the following: Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Go, or Java

         Experience with agile software development processes

         Ability to learn new languages 

         An understanding of continuous deployment environments and automation tools

         Experience with Amazon Web Services (or similar cloud services platform)

         Hands on experience supporting live production applications

         Comfortable learning and using a wide variety of open source technologies and
tools.  Examples are Puppet, Sensu, Graphite, Logstash, Elasticsearch,
Docker, Jenkins, etc.

         Experience operating in a Linux environment

         Experience with configuration management

         Comfortable using Git in various workflows

         Comfortable in a metrics driven environment
