Job description

Amazon Leo is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to serve as the strategic leader for Amazon Leo Manufacturing Operations, a critical function within Amazon's satellite broadband initiative. The Cost Accounting Manager will operate as a financial strategist and trusted advisor to Leo Manufacturing leadership, driving financial decision-making across a complex manufacturing enterprise. This role requires deep expertise in cost accounting for manufacturing, experience with SAP Finance modules, the ability to navigate SOX compliance requirements, and the strategic acumen to optimize cost accounting processes across manufacturing, payload processing, and logistics operations.
The successful candidate will establish and lead financial governance frameworks, internal control processes, and enterprise systems strategies that ensure optimal financial reporting, support the SAP S/4HANA transitions, and establish the Amazon Manufacturing Center of Excellence

This role demands exceptional analytical capabilities, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence senior leadership in an environment characterized by technical complexity, regulatory scrutiny, operational scale, and organizational transformation from R&D to scaled manufacturing.
Key job responsibilities
Monitors and reports on purchase price variance, manufacturing variances, and production efficiency across multiple entities, analyzing manufacturing performance by comparing actual costs to standards and identifying variance drivers across materials, labor, overtime, repairs and maintenance, and manufacturing overhead at scale.
Own month-end closing process and manage cost flows from raw materials through work-in-process to finished satellites
Develop cost accounting procedures and collaborate with internal control team for SOX compliance, and support internal and external audits
Partner with manufacturing operations leadership on cost application optimizations and help implement new solutions
Support transfer pricing and tax regulatory compliance
Serve as a key contributor to SAP S/4HANA transitions and manufacturing systems strategies
Develop next generation of cost accounting leaders and lead through influence across matrixed organization
