What is an Amazon Lead?

Amazon Leads are individuals who oversee and coordinate the work of a team within an Amazon facility, such as a warehouse or fulfillment center. They are responsible for ensuring that daily operations run smoothly, productivity targets are met, and team members adhere to safety and quality standards. Amazon Leads also provide training, guidance, and support to their team, acting as a bridge between associates and management. This role requires strong leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and a focus on efficiency.

How does an Amazon Lead typically collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations?

As an Amazon Lead, you play a central role in coordinating daily activities by closely collaborating with associates on the floor as well as supervisors and managers. You are often responsible for communicating task priorities, resolving workflow bottlenecks, and ensuring that safety and performance standards are met. Additionally, you work with other departments, such as inventory control and human resources, to address operational needs and support continuous improvement initiatives. Effective communication and teamwork are essential in this role, as you serve as a bridge between frontline staff and upper management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Amazon Lead, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Amazon Lead, you need strong leadership abilities, experience in warehouse operations, and a solid understanding of inventory management, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with Amazon’s proprietary systems such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), handheld scanners, and safety protocols is crucial. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills help you motivate teams and address operational challenges effectively. These skills ensure efficient workflow, high productivity, and a safe, collaborative work environment.

Senior Manager, Amazon

Jellycat

Minneapolis, MN • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

Jellycat is a privately owned design-led, gift brand headquartered in London. We create innovative luxurious products in the soft toy, accessory, baby and book categories that are loved around the world. We have an established and growing global customer base and we work with our partners to maximize the potential and reach of Jellycat throughout, sharing joy as we go!
As we continue to grow throughout North America, we continue to develop and improve the presence and awareness of our brand.
We're building Amazon as a key piece of Jellycat's US omnichannel flywheel. We are looking for a Senior Manager, Amazon to build and own this channel from the ground up. You will be the internal expert and champion for Amazon at Jellycat and the person who turns a sound strategic business case into a live, growing, brand-positive channel. You will support the agency selection process, set the strategic agenda the agency executes against, embed the channel operationally with our logistics and IT teams, and report directly to the Director of eCommerce, North America. Accountable for strategic support and full channel execution, you will manage an agency partner, but you must be able to challenge them technically, not just commercially. You will engage with IT, Operations, and Finance as an internal stakeholder driving specific deliverables.
This role can sit in Minneapolis, MN, New York, NY, or remotely in the EASTERN TIME ZONE of the United States.
You'll be:
Channel Strategy & Leadership
  • Leading the Amazon channel day-to-day execution and strategic guidance for Jellycat North America (roadmap, annual operating plan, P&L targets, and omnichannel integration model) in partnership with the Director of eCommerce
  • Optimizing the product mix through data analysis to determine which products launch on Amazon and in what sequence
  • Building & maintaining the eCommerce LTV model, translating financial data into strategic insights
  • Owning the Amazon P&L: weekly revenue tracking, FBA fee monitoring, advertising ROI, contribution margin reporting, and holding the agency and operations team to their respective KPIs

Agency Acquisition & Management
  • Leading the agency selection process in partnership with the Director of eCommerce: evaluate shortlisted agencies against the capability framework developed in the business case, complete reference checks, and make the final recommendation with the Director of eCommerce
  • Owning the day-to-day relationship and strategic direction-setting for the appointed Amazon agency
  • Setting the advertising strategy with the Director of eCommerce that the agency executes: full-funnel media architecture across Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, DSP, and Streaming TV

Reporting & Analytics
  • Owning the weekly and monthly Amazon performance dashboard: revenue vs. plan, TACoS, ROAS by ad type, NTB order rate, Buy Box win rate, in-stock rate, and branded search volume trend
  • Using Amazon Brand Analytics, AMC, and Seller Central data to develop insights that identify search trend shifts, competitive threats, audience behavioral patterns, and product-level performance anomalies and translate them into actionable commercial decisions
  • Proactively monitoring FBA inventory health, escalating risks to the operations team before they become stockouts or fee events

Leadership
  • Acting as the internal owner and driver for all Amazon-related workstreams across Operations, IT, Finance, and Brand

You'll have:
  • 5+ years of direct Amazon experience, with at least 3 years as the owner or co-owner of a brand's Amazon Seller Central (3P) business at a revenue scale of $10M+ annually
  • Be located in Minneapolis, MN, New York, NY, or remotely in the EASTERN TIME ZONE of the United States
  • Proven distributor-to-in-house experience: you have managed or played a lead role in a distributor to in-house Seller Central migration for a branded consumer goods company. You know where the sticking points are: buy box loss during transition, ranking recovery, and ASIN migration sequencing
  • Premium brand fluency: experience working with brands where Amazon is a brand-building and customer acquisition channel, not just a revenue channel. You understand why content quality, character storytelling, and price integrity matter on Amazon as much as TACoS and ROAS
  • Full-funnel Amazon Advertising mastery: you can build and own a Sponsored Products + Sponsored Brands + DSP campaign architecture. You understand how Amazon Marketing Cloud works and have used it to generate a meaningful insight that changed a commercial decision
  • Cross-functional stakeholder management: you have driven IT, Operations, and Finance deliverables as a business owner
  • Agency management experience: you have managed or worked alongside an Amazon agency. You know what good agency output looks like, what questions to ask in an agency pitch, and how to structure a contract that protects the brand's data ownership and performance accountability
  • Analytically rigorous: you are comfortable in Excel building P&L models, contribution margin analyses, and LTV calculations
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field or equivalent professional experience

The good stuff:
  • Bonus - Annual discretionary bonus tied to both company performance and personal contribution.
  • Health Coverage - Medical (Blue Cross Blue Shield + generous Health Savings Account contribution), dental, vision, disability, and life insurance - most of it on us.
  • 401k - We'll match every single dollar up to 5% of your salary. Free money for your future!
  • 30 Days PTO - Prorated and then loaded at the start of each year. Vacation and sick time combined, and yours to use.
  • Employee Assistance Program - Confidential support for whatever life throws your way.
  • Social Events - A very active social committee keeping the calendar full of celebrations and good times.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Compensation:
  • $110k - $130k
