~How you'll make an impact

As a Senior Developer, Data Engineering, you'll play a key role in advancing FCC's data modernization strategy by helping teams across the organization adopt and leverage FCC's modern AWS-based data platform.

Working within a collaborative Adoption and Support team, you'll combine hands-on data engineering expertise with a passion for learning, coaching and knowledge sharing. A significant portion of this role focuses on enabling the broader data community-including data scientists, analysts, business intelligence professionals and other data consumers-to successfully adopt new tools, technologies, databases and ways of working.

You'll design and deliver engaging learning experiences, create practical training materials, provide ongoing mentorship and support, and act as a trusted technical resource for teams adopting FCC's modern data platform. Through training, coaching and hands-on guidance, you'll help build data capabilities across the organization and accelerate the success of FCC's data modernization initiatives.

In addition to enablement and mentorship activities, you'll contribute to the development, enhancement and ongoing support of FCC's data platform by creating and maintaining AWS resources, onboarding new data sources, provisioning access, improving data pipelines and supporting the delivery of scalable data solutions.

What you'll do

  • Writing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Designing and creating learning modules to enable adoption of new data technology and platform
  • Deliver learning sessions to the data community on new skills, tools, technologies and frameworks
  • Working on continuous improvement of learning modules and delivery methods for efficiency
  • Provide post-training support to new consumer groups
  • Mentor and coach users adopting FCC's modern data platform and AWS technologies
  • Act as a technical resource and trusted advisor for data consumers transitioning to new tools and platforms
  • Participate in design sessions and solution implementation
  • Analyze and develop new code, including automation, integration and unit tests
  • Implement code fixes and support user testing
  • Actively contribute to code reviews, providing constructive feedback to team members
  • Ensure technical solutions and system integrations are developed and maintained in the most efficient and effective manner
  • Create CDK using lake formation to build AWS resources and configure infrastructures
  • Manage version control and deployments using GitHub and CI/CD
  • Managing and granting access to AWS services
  • Analyzing and addressing issues with glue pipeline orchestration and execution
What you'll bring to the team

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering
  • Minimum two years of experience in software engineering practices (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Experience designing and conducting training sessions for audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
  • Experience with data engineering tools, platforms and approaches
  • Experience building infrastructure as code (AWS CloudFormation)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Functional programming experience
  • Experience with data modelling, data warehouse building and creating data access layers
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies and concepts: Data Pipelines, Spark, Glue, Redshift, SageMaker, QuickSight, DMS and IAM, with the ability to guide and support new adopters
  • Ability to map legacy tools and technologies to modern AWS solutions
  • Experience with Informatica or any ETL tool
  • Experience with data observability and tools such as DataHub
  • Experience with Data Vault 2.0
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting technical users in the adoption of new tools, technologies and platforms
  • Experience designing learning materials, technical training programs or enablement resources
  • Experience facilitating workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions or communities of practice
  • Strong ability to explain technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
