Lead Driver / Driver Trainer (CDL-A) Amazon Freight Partner

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Pay: $25.00 $29.00 per hour (based on experience)

Join Our Growing Amazon Freight Partner Team

Geneva Logistics Group is one of the largest Amazon Freight Partners, seeking an experienced CDL-A Lead Driver / Driver Trainer to help support and develop our professional driving team in Indianapolis, IN. This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced CDL-A driver who is passionate about safety, driver development, and operational excellence. The Lead Driver will work closely with Operations, Safety, and Fleet leadership to train new drivers, reinforce company standards, support equipment readiness, and help maintain the high level of service expected within the Amazon Freight network. If you're a respected driver who enjoys mentoring others and leading by example, we'd like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach, train, and mentor new and existing CDL-A drivers
  • Conduct pre-employment road tests and driver evaluations
  • Assist with driver onboarding, orientation, and hands-on training
  • Reinforce safe driving practices, Hours-of-Service compliance, and company policies
  • Support ongoing driver development through coaching and performance feedback
  • Serve as a resource for drivers regarding operational questions, procedures, and best practices
  • Work closely with Operations and Fleet teams to coordinate equipment movement, repairs, and maintenance scheduling
  • Assist with equipment inspections and readiness to ensure safe and reliable operations
  • Help identify operational challenges and proactively support solutions
  • Lead by example through professionalism, safety, communication, and accountability
  • Support service continuity by operating commercial vehicles when needed
  • Promote a positive driver culture focused on safety, customer service, and teamwork

Qualifications Required

  • Valid CDL Class A License
  • Minimum of 5 years of CDL-A driving experience
  • Clean driving record and strong safety history
  • Previous experience as a Lead Driver, Driver Trainer, Driver Manager, or similar leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, and Hours-of-Service requirements
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Operations, Safety, and Fleet teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to lead by example and positively influence driver performance

Preferred

  • Experience working within dedicated transportation or Amazon Freight operations
  • Experience conducting road tests, driver assessments, and onboarding programs
  • Previous leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet operations
