What does an ETL developer do?

An ETL developer designs, develops, and maintains processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into a suitable format, and load it into data warehouses or databases. They often use tools like Apache Spark, Informatica, or AWS Glue and need strong programming and data modeling skills. Their work supports data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence efforts.

What is an ETL developer's salary?

An ETL developer's salary typically ranges from $70,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and industry. Professionals skilled in tools like AWS, SQL, and data warehousing often command higher salaries, especially with certifications and advanced expertise.

What is an Amazon ETL Developer job?

An Amazon ETL Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to manage data pipelines in Amazon Web Services (AWS). They work with tools such as AWS Glue, Redshift, and Lambda to automate data workflows and ensure efficient data integration. Their role includes optimizing data storage, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with data engineers and analysts. Typically, they must have expertise in SQL, Python, and cloud-based ETL solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Amazon Etl Developer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Amazon ETL Developer, a strong background in data engineering, SQL, data modeling, and ETL process design is essential, often requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Expertise with ETL tools (such as AWS Glue or Informatica), cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), and relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics) is highly valued. Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help in understanding business requirements and collaborating across teams. These skills ensure efficient, reliable data processing and meaningful contributions to data-driven business decisions.

Is L4 entry level in Amazon?

Advancement to higher levels usually involves gaining more technical expertise and project management skills.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of an Amazon ETL Developer?

As an Amazon ETL Developer, your daily tasks often include designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines to move and transform data using AWS tools like Glue, Redshift, and S3. You will collaborate closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure clean, accessible data flows throughout the organization. Troubleshooting data quality issues and optimizing ETL processes for performance and scalability are also key aspects of the role. Routine interaction with cross-functional teams means strong communication and teamwork are essential for success.

Does AWS have an ETL tool?

AWS offers several services suitable for ETL processes, including AWS Glue, which is a fully managed extract, transform, and load service designed for data integration and preparation. AWS Glue allows ETL developers, including those in roles like an Amazon ETL Developer, to build and run data pipelines efficiently using a serverless environment. Other AWS services like Data Pipeline and EMR can also be used for complex ETL workflows.
