Job description

Director of Distribution
Position Summary
The Director of Distribution is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a high-volume distribution center. The Director serves as the primary driver of the campus "safety-first" culture and is responsible for bridging the gap between high-level strategic goals and floor-level execution. This role requires a leader who can move the organization from reactive problem-solving to a proactive, data-driven, and scalable operational model.

Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Excellence & Scalable Efficiency
  • Direct all daily inbound and outbound operations, ensuring labor is perfectly aligned with volume trends.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of the Labor Management System (LMS) to drive productivity and cost reduction.
  • Shift the operational focus from labor-only fixes to system-driven configurations and process improvements.
  • Utilize Obeya and Gemba leadership approaches to maintain real-time visibility into floor operations and barrier removal.
2. Financial Stewardship & Accountability
  • Manage the departmental budget with a focus on achieving a multi-million dollar annual labor cost reduction.
  • Enforce strict overtime controls and staffing protocols to ensure "above reproach" financial performance.
  • Monitor SAP data integrity and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure transparency and accuracy in reporting.
3. Leadership & Cultural Transformation
  • Dismantle departmental silos to foster a "One Campus" mindset centered on cross-functional collaboration.
  • Mentor and develop a pipeline of "best-in-class" leaders, focusing on both tactical supply chain skills and soft leadership acumen.
  • Eliminate defensive team dynamics by fostering a culture of high trust, psychological safety, and radical accountability.
4. Safety & Compliance
  • Champion a "safety-first" mindset, ensuring 100% OSHA compliance and leading proactive safety-walk programs.
  • Ensure the facility remains audit-ready at all times, maintaining standards that reflect a world-class logistics operation.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in large-scale distribution or manufacturing environments (e.g., Amazon, Nike, or similar high-velocity environments).
  • Technical Skills: Deep proficiency in WMS/LMS platforms (SAP preferred) and a strong understanding of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; MBA or professional certifications (CSCP, LSSBB) preferred.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading large, diverse teams through significant cultural and operational transformations.

Core Competencies
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to connect daily tasks to the 2026 transformation goals.
  • Data Fluency: Mastery of business intelligence tools to drive decision-making.
  • Integrity: Unwavering commitment to data accuracy and ethical leadership.
