Job description

HNI Corporation is a global family of brands for the workplace and home dedicated to enhancing the spaces where we live, work, and gather. We pride ourselves on fostering an environment where we make a positive impact on others; upholding our beliefs in integrity, inclusion and belonging.

POSITION SUMMARY

The eCommerce Demand Planning Analyst โ€“ Amazon & Marketplace is responsible for translating marketplace demand, sales, inventory, and fulfillment data into actionable guidance that helps HNI maintain the appropriate product availability to support its eCommerce and distribution partners. Sitting within the eCommerce organization, this role serves as an important connection point between external marketplace demand and HNIโ€™s internal supply chain, inventory, manufacturing, and commercial teams.

A primary focus of the position is HNIโ€™s relationship with Amazon. Using Amazon Vendor Central and related reporting, the Analyst evaluates Amazon forecasts, SKU-level demand trends, inventory positions, sales performance, and fulfillment expectations. This information is translated into internal forecasts, reports, and recommendations that help HNI determine what products need to be manufactured, purchased, positioned, or maintained in inventory to meet anticipated marketplace demand.

The role performs similar analysis for other wholesale and distribution partners using historical sales, partner inventory positions, order patterns, and other available demand signals. The successful candidate combines strong Amazon Vendor Central expertise with analytical capabilities, supply-chain knowledge, and the ability to translate complex marketplace data into clear recommendations for internal stakeholders.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate is an eCommerce and supply-chain analyst who understands Amazon from the vendor side of the relationship. They are comfortable working within Amazon Vendor Central, understand the meaning and limitations of the demand, sales, inventory, and fulfillment information Amazon provides, and know how to turn that information into useful internal planning guidance.

They also understand the downstream implications of those forecasts. When Amazon indicates increased expected demand for a group of SKUs, this individual does more than report the number. They can evaluate that expectation against historical sales and current inventory, identify potential supply gaps, and work with internal partners to determine whether purchasing, manufacturing, or inventory plans need to change.

Successful candidates are particularly effective at operating between eCommerce and Supply Chain. They understand the commercial expectations of marketplaces and distribution partners while also appreciating the practical realities of lead times, production capacity, inventory investment, and fulfillment. They use that perspective to help HNI maintain the right inventory at the right timeโ€”supporting sales growth and marketplace performance without unnecessarily increasing inventory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAmazon Vendor Central & Marketplace Management
  • Serve as a primary internal subject matter resource for Amazon Vendor Central reporting, demand information, inventory metrics, and operational performance.
  • Monitor Amazon-provided forecasts and SKU-level demand signals to understand expected sales and inventory requirements.
  • Analyze marketplace performance across products, categories, and time periods to identify meaningful changes in demand.
  • Monitor operational and fulfillment KPIs associated with maintaining strong vendor performance with Amazon.
  • Identify emerging risks related to product availability, inventory position, sales velocity, or fulfillment expectations and communicate them proactively to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Amazon Vendor Central capabilities, reporting changes, and marketplace requirements that may affect HNIโ€™s planning or fulfillment processes.
Demand Analysis & Forecast Translation
  • Translate external marketplace forecasts and demand signals into actionable internal planning information.
  • Analyze SKU-level demand by product, category, season, and relevant planning period.
  • Develop reports and recommendations that clearly communicate anticipated product requirements to internal stakeholders.
Inventory & Supply Chain Planning
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, and inventory planning teams to ensure product availability is aligned with anticipated eCommerce demand.
  • Translate marketplace demand information into guidance regarding required on-hand inventory and future product requirements.
  • Support planning discussions involving lead times, manufacturing capacity, product availability, and fulfillment requirements.
Distributor & Wholesale Partner Planning
  • Support inventory and demand planning for non-Amazon distributors, wholesalers, and other transactional partners.
  • Analyze historical sales patterns, partner inventory levels, ordering behavior, sell-through, and other available demand information.
  • Develop forecasts and inventory recommendations based on historical performance and anticipated partner requirements.
Reporting & Analytics
  • Develop recurring reports, dashboards, and analyses summarizing marketplace demand, sales performance, inventory requirements, and fulfillment risks.
  • Consolidate information from Amazon Vendor Central, internal systems, distributor reporting, and other sources into useful planning tools.
  • Present complex SKU-level information in clear formats that enable business partners to identify priorities and take action.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Operations, Finance, Business Administration, eCommerce, or a related discipline required.
  • 3โ€“5+ years of experience in eCommerce operations, demand planning, inventory planning, supply-chain analytics, marketplace operations, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Vendor Central required.
  • Demonstrated experience using Amazon reporting, forecasts, demand signals, inventory information, or vendor performance metrics to support business decisions.
  • Experience translating demand forecasts into inventory, purchasing, production, or supply-chain planning requirements.
  • Experience analyzing SKU-level sales and inventory data.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience supporting wholesalers, distributors, retailers, or other channel partners preferred.
  • Experience within manufacturing, consumer products, furniture, durable goods, or another physical-product environment preferred.
RELEVANT SKILLS
  • Strong analytical reasoning and ability to identify meaningful trends within large amounts of SKU-level data.
  • Ability to translate external demand signals into practical supply-chain recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between sales forecasts, inventory, manufacturing, purchasing, and fulfillment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple product categories, partners, and planning cycles simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain analytical findings to both commercial and operational audiences.
  • Proactive approach to identifying inventory and fulfillment risks before they affect customers or marketplace performance.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to exercise judgment when forecasts, historical trends, and current business conditions provide conflicting signals.
  • Continuous-improvement mindset with an interest in creating repeatable and scalable planning processes.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU!
