Job description


We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team focused on cancer communication research. The successful candidate will contribute to NIH-funded projects through a range of activities, including data collection and management, data analysis, and leading or co-authoring scholarly manuscripts. Areas of focus may include health communication, mobile health interventions, clinical trial recruitment, and quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis. Candidates should demonstrate experience working in interdisciplinary teams, clinical trial recruitment and familiarity with health research methodologies.

This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
Key Responsibilities
Design and conduct qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research in health communication and implementation science.
Analyze data using appropriate statistical and qualitative methodologies; support the development and testing of technology-based interventions.
Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for peer-reviewed journals and scientific meetings.
Support protocol development, IRB submissions, amendments, and regulatory compliance.
Participate in grant preparation by conducting literature reviews and supporting methods development.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and community partners.

Dr. Janice Krieger's Enhancing Technology & Communication in Healthcare (ETCH) laboratory focuses on advancing translational communication by developing and evaluating culturally tailored interventions and leveraging innovative technology solutions. Dr. Krieger's work spans the cancer continuum, with an emphasis on precision messaging, user-centered design, and community-based participatory research to ensure health information is accessible, understandable, and linguistically and culturally appropriate for patients, families, and communities.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peer-reviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Upon background check and CCATS Executive Committee approval, Research Fellow may have patient/research subject contact directly relating to and incidental to the original research program. Proof of English proficiency is required for J-1 Short-Term Scholars, Research Scholars, Professors, Specialists, and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic.
Qualifications
  • Hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree) in health communication, communication science, public health, psychology, computer science, health services research, behavioral/social science, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrate research training (e.g., dissertation or fellowship work) and a record of peer-reviewed publications relevant to health communication, epidemiology, cancer control, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bring experience with community-engaged research
  • Apply (or be familiar with) implementation science frameworks and health communication theories.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary research teams in academic medical settings.
  • Communicate clearly through strong scientific writing and oral presentation skills.
