Job description

If you are a Developer with 3+ years experience and deep expertise in distributed systems and interested in micro-services, you'll want to talk to the Offers team.
Our systems are at the core of Amazon.com websites because we serve up the product and offering catalog containing billions of records. We are the authority for product information and critical purchasing data, such as availability and price. Offers team respond to trillions of requests per day from hundreds of internal clients that power the website and other customer interfaces, such as Kindle and Amazon Alexa. Our team owns software running in a distributed, high performance, high availability NoSQL data storage system with an inbuilt micro-service computing environment that calculates and vends product and offering information.
Our engineers are customer-focused, strong performance analysts, and good API designers. These skills help us define the bleeding edge for elegant, super-scalable services at Amazon.com.
Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have strong distributed systems and web services design and implementation experience. You should have a thorough understanding of Internet protocols and experience implementing services at scale. You should be somebody who enjoys working on owning software services, is customer-centric, and feels strongly not only about building good software but about making that software achieve its goals in operational reality.

About the team
As the vending surface of Catalog Systems, Offers team plays a key role in launching new business initiatives by providing design consultations, designing and implementing features crucial to the desired customer experience, and supporting resiliency and stability. Offers team is at the core of Amazon.com websites serving millions of requests per second at single digit millisecond latency. We are the authority for critical product and purchasing data such as availability and price. Our team owns software running in a distributed, highly performant, and highly available micro-service computing system containing billions of records. Our clients are hundreds of internal teams, businesses that contribute to the Amazon.com website and other customer interfaces such as Kindle and Amazon Alexa. We play an active role in providing design and consultation across Amazon to enable these business use-cases at Amazon.com's scale.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
