Job description

Everforth ECS is seeking a Cloud Engineer to work in our Fairfax, VA office.
Everforth ECS is an expert technology firm focused on physical and cloud solutions exceeding our customer's technical needs. We specialize in migrating custom-developed, COTS, and GOTS applications into premium cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). We also offer a complete suite of managed service solutions for our customers, including design, architecture, DevOps, systems administration, big data, security, and 24x7 cloud support services.
Everforth ECS is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Cloud Engineer to work as part of a highly collaborative team responsible for the development, deployment, and integration of AI tools and AWS Cloud Solutions for DoW Mission Partners. The Cloud Engineer is responsible for building, configuring, documenting, and maintaining DoW virtual infrastructure using modern AWS services, container orchestration, and serverless technologies. The highly qualified candidate has hands-on skills and expertise:
  • Supporting large DoW programs that operate and maintain multiple IL 4/5 hybrid-cloud and AWS GovCloud environments.
  • Assisting client teams in deploying and modernizing applications using containers (Docker/ECS/EKS) and serverless functions within an AWS cloud environment.

The Cloud Engineer reports directly to the Technical Lead, and will routinely engage with the Project Manager, senior engineers, customers, and Mission Partners. Duties include:
  • Deploy and maintain multi-component, cloud-based / hybrid solutions and new capabilities in AWS that meet customer and DoW security requirements.
  • Implement and manage containerized workloads utilizing Amazon ECS, EKS, or AWS Fargate.
  • Build and configure serverless application components using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and step functions.
  • Ensure system components maintain strict compliance with DoW requirements and security frameworks (NIST/FedRAMP).
  • Conduct functional, interoperability, and security testing of cloud deployments, including routine network and system maintenance activities.
  • Implement routine system updates including STIGs, OS, and application patching via automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Coordinate support for enclave applications and operations, troubleshooting cloud networking and infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate with operations, senior architects, and Everforth ECS Centers of Excellence to execute on key components of large solutions.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000
General Description of Benefits

  • Active DoW Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI indoctrination.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; Information Systems Management; or a similar Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
  • Active DoW 8140 IAT Level II or greater certification (CompTIA Security+ and/or CISSP preferred) or obtained within 30 calendar days of hire.
  • 5+ years of broad IT experience in cybersecurity, systems administration, or engineering, with at least 2+ years of hands-on experience deploying solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Ability to travel <10% to CONUS locations (primarily the Northern VA metropolitan area).
  • Solid hands-on proficiency with AWS cloud services and technologies, including:
    • Compute & Storage: EC2, S3, RDS, EBS.
    • Networking: VPC, Subnets, Security Groups, basic routing.
    • Containers: Familiarity with Docker and deploying containers via Amazon ECS or EKS.
    • Serverless: Experience deploying and troubleshooting AWS Lambda functions.
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Working knowledge of Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Fundamental understanding of data management and security within cloud environments, utilizing AWS IAM (Roles, Policies).
  • Ability to deploy and maintain security controls within complex IT systems, including Linux/Windows operating systems and cloud services.
  • Knowledge of IP Networking including VPCs, VPNs, VRF, DNS, load-balancing, and firewalls, ports & protocols.
  • Experience executing DoW-tailored change control, implementation processes, and STIG / GPO / SRG compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience with scripted automation (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and application connectivity.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate solution.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with the ability to effectively and professionally interact with a diverse set of stakeholders (from peers to end-users to executive management).
