Job description

Position Summary

To support KBI's Digital transformation, the Senior Cloud Platform Engineer position is a key role in the Digital group within the Information Technology department. The Digital group is responsible for transforming KBI through delivering and supporting custom digital products (data and applications). These applications are built using services and cloud technologies provided by Amazon Web Services and the cloud platform engineering functions are to collaborate with product teams to build, deploy, monitor, and support these applications. The Senior Cloud Platform Engineer role is expected to own the design and operations of our cloud infrastructure and monitor the technology landscape to constantly seek increased reliability, robustness and speed of development and deployment of new or existing Digital products, so as to maximize the Digital group’s impact on KBI’s business.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate KBI's AWS-based platform supporting digital products, data platforms, and cloud-native applications.
  • Own and evolve KBI's Kubernetes platform (Amazon EKS), including platform architecture, upgrades, scalability, security, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Design and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure across development, test, and production environments.
  • Lead the design and implementation of platform capabilities supporting both GMP and non-GMP workloads.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and related tooling.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions that ensure platform reliability and performance.
  • Create self-service platform capabilities, reusable deployment patterns, and engineering standards that improve developer productivity and operational consistency.
  • Partner with Quality, Compliance, Security, Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to establish platform governance, security controls, and operational standards.
  • Support incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend platform enhancements that improve reliability, security, scalability, and developer experience.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, building, and operating cloud-native platforms in AWS.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
  • Experience supporting multi-account AWS environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation solutions.
  • Experience with GitOps methodologies and related tooling.
  • Experience with container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, security architecture, and governance principles.
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: $112,480 – $154,660. Salary range provided per current averages and expectations. The salary and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
