Our partners across Amazon's Consumer and Digital business units to build, monitor, and protect a secure environment for the Amazon business.

As a software development engineer you will apply the appropriate technologies and best practices to autonomously solve difficult problems. You will work with customers, stakeholders, and peers to refine your ideas into pragmatic solutions with high operational excellence. You will contribute to the professional development of colleagues, improving their technical knowledge and engineering practices.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will work with product managers and business stakeholders to define, design, develop, and deploy a set of technical solutions

You should be comfortable developing technical roadmaps, disambiguating technical and business requirements, and growing and managing engineers around you to deliver in a fast-paced environment. Creating reliable, scalable, and high-performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems.
This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs. Our employees and the neighboring community will also benefit from the associated investments from the Commonwealth including infrastructure updates, public transportation improvements, and new access to Reagan National Airport.
Key job responsibilities
Designing, developing, and operating key system products and services using Native AI
Ensuring designs align with the organizational and product architectures
Maintaining and promoting a high operational excellence bar
Operating in an agile environment to deliver high quality projects on fast paced schedules

1) Collaborating with project teams across various themes like core platform development, software compliance, and financial optimization.
2) Engaging in technical discussions and brainstorming on AI adoption.
3) Active participation in our development sprints, reviewing code, and ensuring the implementation of best practices.
4) Interacting with stakeholders, understanding their needs, and translating them into technical solutions.
5) Mentoring team members (SDE1), providing guidance, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
6) Regularly reviewing and optimizing existing systems and processes for better efficiency and performance.
