POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Mechanic at LJA Telecom, you will be responsible for regular preventative maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues using computerized diagnostics or manual methods, and repair or replace engine, transmission, brake, fuel, electrical, suspension, and exhaust system components

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

  • Regular vehicle servicing with preventative maintenance
  • Identify mechanical faults through computerized diagnostic equipment or manually pinpointing sources of trouble that could not be found by the diagnostic mechanism
  • Replace or repair of any part of the engine
  • Repair and servicing vehicle transmission systems
  • Maintain and repair the brake system, such as disc and drum brakes
  • Carry out diagnosis and repair of problems in the electrical system, including the battery, starter, and alternator
  • Perform wheel alignments and tire services
  • Replace or repair suspension and steering components
  • Test for emissions and work towards getting the emissions within the proper limits
  • Replace exhaust systems
  • Change oil, along with any needed fluid services
  • Replace or repair fuel system components
  • Service or repair hybrid and electric vehicle systems
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems in applicable vehicles
  • Record all repairs or maintenance in the appropriate occupational reports
  • Communicate to clients, in non-technical language, reviewed repairs and maintenance that the technician has identified
  • Provide repair estimates and repair timelines and seek customer approval for work order
  • Work to maintain awareness and working knowledge of new automotive technologies and to attend professional development on technical practices
  • Follow proper safety protocols and maintain an organized, clean work area.
  • Carry out engine tune-ups to make the vehicle perform the best it possibly can.
  • Road calls to service company trucks
  • Must have some tools

 REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • High school or GED

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to bend, climb, and squat to perform job duties in the field.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Must have sufficient hand and finger dexterity to safely operate tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to detect odors and fumes as necessary for safe work performance.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and work outdoors for extended periods in various conditions.
  • Must have adequate hearing and vision to perform duties safely and effectively.
  • Must be 21 years or older to be considered for this position.
