Job description

RK&K is currently seeking a Project Manager to lead our Florida based Alternative Delivery team, position to be based in any of our Florida offices. As a Project Manager in our Alternative Delivery division, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead a team of professional engineers in support of our current and future clients. You will play a critical role on our team by developing and maintaining relationships with clients and connecting those clients with innovative and creative solutions to their transportation-oriented needs.

Essential Function

  • Serve as a hands-on, project based, Design Manager for Florida Transportation Alternative Delivery projects providing project leadership, technical expertise, budget management, and design production oversight
  • Lead transportation projects and assist with hands-on design production
  • Maintain strong relationships with potential teaming partners (contractors, engineers, subconsultants)
  • Actively participate in the development and professional growth of RK&K's Florida based staff, particularly with respect to alternative delivery

Required Skills and Experience

  • Ten (10) years of experience in engineering services with progressive responsibilities including engineering, design, project management and client delivery
  • Experience leading design build or alternative delivery projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License in Florida
  • Capacity to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually, including strong technical and proposal writing skills
  • Ability to think creatively, resolve abstract problems, motivate others, work collaboratively, and be self-directed

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in engineering services with progressive responsibilities including engineering, design, project management and client delivery
  • Project Management (PMP) or Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification
  • Engineer of record on projects valued at $100 Million or greater in construction
  • Experience as Design Manager, Deputy Design Manager, or high functioning discipline lead on contractor lead teams for Florida Design Build Transportation projects (FDOT, FTE, GMX, THEA, CFX, or other public agencies within Florida).
  • Established ability to coordinate with Contractor and Owner during Design-Build pursuits and project execution.
  • Preparation of Design-Build Statement of Qualifications, Technical Proposal and Price Proposals
  • Management of Alternative Delivery Teams, including in-house and subconsultant staff, to exceed project goals for design, schedule and budget performance.
  • Capable of supporting the growth of traditional design services within the Florida market with a focus on FDOT.
