Job description

Town of Marana Marana is one of the fastest-growing communities in Southern Arizona, located approximately 20 minutes northwest of downtown Tucson and 75 minutes southeast of Phoenix. Position Description The Town of Marana is seeking an Assistant Town Attorney to work in the Legal Department, primarily as a civil municipal attorney for the Town.

This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for an attorney interested in representing the Town of Marana. The ideal candidate must be able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, have the ability to work with minimal supervision, possess excellent attention to detail and exceptional communication skills (oral and written), and able to establish and maintain working relationships with Town officials and employees, and the general public. Expected Hiring Range: $90,070.97 - $112,588.68 Placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience

Salary Range: $90,070.97 - $135,106.43 Examples of Duties Provide as-needed legal advice; perform legal analysis, research, and writing; communicate results to clients. Attend meetings of the Town Council, boards and commissions, and Town staff; analyze and assimilate information; and organize calendar and work tasks. Prepare and review legal documents; read and apply knowledge of subject; maintain legal knowledge of issues

Act as prosecutor if directed by the Town Attorney; prosecute misdemeanor criminal offenses in the Town of Marana from inception to resolution; represent the state of Arizona at trials and other hearings, including appeals; prepare plea offers; ensure proper implementation of Victims' Rights; draft legal motions, appeals and memoranda; and manage prosecution case load. Minimum Qualifications Juris Doctor degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association Member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona Over three years of experience working as an attorney Must complete the Town of Marana background check After hiring, must be approved to access Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) information.
