The Alternative Channel Distribution Leader will be responsible for driving AIG's profitable growth, maximizing AIG's franchise value and managing our Delegated Authority relationships for the commercial business within AIG Canada General Insurance with unique and measurable objectives in the programs/MGA and commercial accounts market segments. This role will be a wholly dedicated role that will work with the Head of Wholesale and Alternative Channels Distribution as well as the leaders of AIG Programs, AIG Canada, and AIG Alternative Channels to establish and execute a broad and customized distribution management strategy for the Canadian market. They will also play an integral role in the wider AIG Distribution organization. The goal is to unlock the full potential in each colleague - empowering our people to grow as insurance professionals and add more value to our customers and AIG.

How you will create an impact:

  • Identify key (and high quality) MGA distribution sources who control business that fits our risk appetite and target account profile, to expand the Alternative Channels distribution footprint, and open doors to new business opportunities that AIG is not currently seeing.
  • Work in tandem with our US Programs team and related Key Distribution Partners, to identify opportunities to expand those relationships throughout the Canadian market.
  • Manage the program opportunity catalogue and new business pipeline and identify plans around targets in order to source synergistic and accretive Program M&A targets.
  • Build real time and consistent management reporting methods to hold partners accountable for production and performance.
  • Work with Marketing & Communications to coordinate AIG's participation in industry sponsored MGA, and relevant industry and AIG hosted events. Ensure AIG is the Program Market of choice.
  • Work with the following stakeholders to achieve Business Unit and Canada Alternative Channels Distribution goals, objectives, and priority initiatives with executive level commitments and buy-in from the respective distribution source(s).
    • Business Unit Sales and Underwriting management
    • North American Alternative Channels and Programs Leadership
    • AIG Canada Zone Presidents
    • Wholesale, Retail, & Distribution Leaders
  • Ensure "Balanced Trade" and build collaborative growth plans across all distribution channels.
  • In collaboration with the Business Unit leaders in AIG Canada, AIG Programs, and Alt Channels, drive profitable growth, the desired retention, and fill the new business pipeline with quality opportunities that fit the target account profile in each business.
  • Develop and facilitate trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work closely with the Alternative Channels distribution partners and build strong relationships, gain trust, facilitate creative / innovative solutions, and showcase the AIG franchise value and differentiation.
  • Act as a liaison between the Alt Channels business units and the rest of the AIG teams to ensure collaboration and coordination.
  • Ensure AIG Alt Channels is represented in leadership meetings and broker discussions.

The Alternative Channel Distribution Leader will be expected to exhibit the following behaviors:

  • Accountability and ownership of the qualitative and quantitative effectiveness each distribution relationship.
  • Driven to pursue AIG's profitability and growth agenda while ensuring alignment.
  • Always fostering "ease of doing business" between AIG and our Delegated Authority partners.
  • Keeping the leadership teams of AIG Programs, and Alt Channels Distribution leadership and management teams regularly updated with results and significant changes with assigned Delegated Authority partners.
  • Treating our Product Leadership and ELT as an internal customers.
  • Supporting a culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, diversity and inclusion; successfully conduct talent acquisition, employee engagement and performance monitoring / evaluation work; leads by example.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • 10+ Years of experience with P&C Carrier or Brokerage focused on the Delegated Authority & Alt Channels distribution.
  • Ability to use that experience to develop a relationship / operations strategy that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.
  • Leadership
    • Ability to influence resources to achieve objectives across various Business Units and geographies.
    • Maximize performance organization to achieve predetermined vision and objectives.

The base salary range for this position is CAD $170,000-$210,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will be dependent on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
