ISG is seeking an Emerging Markets Economist to join its Tactical Asset Allocation team.

Private Wealth Management (PWM)
Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management (PWM) specializes in creating comprehensive wealth management plans for high net worth individuals and families, as well as select institutions, including foundations and endowments. PWM Teams work one-on-one with clients to advise and deliver customized strategies drawn from our deep investment experience, diverse wealth management capabilities and global reach. Our Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs) deliver an unparalleled investment platform inclusive of the full product and service offerings of Goldman Sachs and beyond, which may include tax and estate planning, philanthropic planning and private banking and lending services. As client needs evolve, this close relationship allows the team to offer complementary services and new opportunities by leveraging the resources of Goldman Sachs and beyond.
Investment Strategy Group (ISG)
The Investment Strategy Group works with advisors and clients to help create an exceptional overall investment experience by ensuring that every client receives world-class investment advice that can help generate superior and consistent returns.
The Tactical Asset Allocation team (TAA) within ISG seeks to generate tactical alpha for clients' portfolios by investing across macro asset classes (equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities). In addition to its investment mandate, the TAA team publishes several widely distributed reports and Outlooks each year, and is responsible for disseminating and communicating macro investment views to the firm's clients.
This position will be based in New York and is an integral part of ISG's dissemination and communication of macro views relating to emerging markets.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
  • Collaborate with ISG colleagues to conduct economic analysis that will help identify top-down, macro-driven investment opportunities in emerging markets
  • Interpret and comment on key economic data releases and policy developments.
  • Develop and communicate views on the economic outlook and central bank policy in key emerging markets
  • Maintain and build analytical tools and models to monitor and project economic growth, inflation, and interest rates
  • Build and maintain presentations and client communications
  • Present economic views to internal and external clients

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Master's degree (U.S. or equivalent) in economics
  • At least 5 years of experience in the financial services industry with a focus on emerging markets
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Experience with econometric analysis and coding (preferably in Python)
  • Deep curiosity and passion for the intersection between macroeconomics and markets
  • Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms
  • Attention to detail, patience, flexible attitude, and ability to multi-task under pressure
  • Collaborative and teamwork oriented
  • SIE, Series 7 and Series 63 required (must obtain within 3 months)

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $115000-$270000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
