The Role As a Lumen Network Technician, focused on installation and maintenance you will be responsible for all aspects of cable repair and maintenance both copper and fiber splicing, carrier systems repair and maintenance will be a feature of this position, also including but is not limited to installation and repairs on POTS and DSL services, buried section repairs (dig and fix), rehab and corrective action on irregular plant conditions in all aerial, buried and underground plant plus all installation aspects to include, but is not limited of GPON, DSL, bonded DSL and POTS services. Location & Schedule This is a full time position located in St. Helens, OA area.

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00AM-04:30PM. May also include working on weekends, holidays, overnights (rarely), and as well as the possibility of being on call. The Main Responsibilities Install, splice, and test fiber optic and copper cables for projects, maintenance, and emergency repairs.

Perform dark fiber, reel, continuity, and conformance testing using industry-standard equipment (e.g., OTDR, T-Berd). Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair existing fiber and copper networks, locating and resolving faults to ensure service continuity. Install, configure, and enable residential and small business telecommunication services such as POTS, HSI, VDSL, FTTH, and networking

Connect and manage wiring/cabling, terminals, and hardware attachments on customer premises, poles, and inside facilities. Read and interpret service orders, repair tickets, technical drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and maps to execute work accurately. Coordinate testing of customer lines with test centers or designated personnel and document results per company standards.

Interact professionally with customers to assess service requirements, confirm issues, and suggest appropriate solutions. Update service orders, review billing information, and advise customers on equipment features, usage, and capabilities. Identify and pursue additional revenue opportunities by recognizing potential upsell or cross-sell services during customer interactions.

Adhere to safety protocols, company policies, and industry regulations while performing fieldwork and documenting all activities. Experience handling large multi-pair copper telecommunication cables, including identifying pairs and groups, and effectively splicing, sealing and weatherproofing cables. Experience splicing fiber optic cables, as well as handling fiber optic cable infrastructure such as underground innerduct, splice cases, and end terminal fiber optics equipment Experience using underground cable locating equipment Excellent mechanical aptitude and the ability to solve problems involving physically broken cases, cabinets, racks and other infrastructure.

Experience with modern electronic telecommunications equipment such as switches, modems, multiplexers, network interface devices, etc. What We Look For in a Candidate Must work varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends and holidays. May be assigned to work out of town for varying lengths of time.

Drive company-provided vehicle. Requires a valid state drivers license and a satisfactory driving record. May require compliance with State and Federal Department of Transportation Drive Qualification Regulations, including drug and alcohol testing.

May require a CDL. May climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet. May require pole climbing certification

When working aloft with ladders, lift trucks, bucket truck or other equipment with weight-capacity ratings, employees must adhere to the Company safety policy and equipment weight requirements. May work in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, utility holes). May perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting and/or moving objects weighing over 75 pounds

May perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (e.g., extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather). May work underground in manholes, utility vaults and similar locations with knowledge of water pumping, fresh air ventilation, and fall prevention.
