OVERVIEW

ALO is seeking an experienced Benefits Manager, International to help shape and scale our global benefits programs as we continue to expand internationally. This is a newly expanded role designed to support ALO's continued international growth.

Reporting to the Director of Global Benefits, you'll serve as the primary benefits partner for an assigned international region while collaborating on global benefits strategy, leading implementations, renewals, and ongoing operations. You'll bring thoughtful recommendations, market insights, and a continuous improvement mindset to help build scalable benefits programs that support our employees around the world.

This role offers the opportunity to partner with HR, Legal, Payroll, Finance, Recruiting, and leading global brokers and insurance carriers to launch benefits in new countries, build scalable processes and resources, and create an exceptional employee experience for our growing global workforce.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable thinking strategically, executing operationally, and rolling up their sleeves to get things done. We're looking for someone who thinks like a consultant, builds like an entrepreneur, collaborates like a trusted partner, and executes with excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Partner on Strategy & Market Design

  • Serve as the primary benefits lead for an assigned international region, partnering closely with regional HR teams and business leaders.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Global Benefits to develop and execute ALO's international benefits strategy.
  • Lead annual renewals by partnering with global brokers to evaluate market trends, benchmark benefit offerings, analyze carrier proposals, negotiate plan design and pricing, and develop recommendations for leadership.
  • Research statutory requirements, utilization, and employee feedback to identify opportunities that balance competitiveness, compliance, cost, and employee experience.
  • Develop executive presentations that support benefit design, budget planning, vendor selection, renewals, and international expansion.

Lead Implementations & Vendor Partnerships

  • Lead end-to-end implementation of benefits programs for new countries and vendor transitions.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and implementation strategies while coordinating internal stakeholders, brokers, carriers, and vendors.
  • Partner with Recruiting and regional business leaders to align benefit implementations with hiring plans, projected headcount, and business expansion timelines.
  • Manage carrier onboarding, brokerage placement documentation, insurance applications, Statements of Work (SOWs), engagement letters, and contractual agreements.
  • Monitor project milestones, risks, dependencies, and deliverables to ensure successful implementation.

Build & Scale Global Benefits Operations

  • Own the day-to-day operation of benefits programs across your assigned region while delivering an exceptional employee experience.
  • Develop, document, standardize, and continuously improve SOPs, implementation playbooks, benefits guides, employee communications, and other resources that support scalable global benefits operations.
  • Oversee eligibility, enrollments, waivers, dependent verification, recurring eligibility files, and ongoing benefits administration.
  • Partner closely with Payroll and HR Operations to ensure accurate benefit deductions and administration.
  • Review carrier invoices, reconcile billing, monitor program costs, and support reporting requests.
  • Monitor vendor performance and partner with brokers and insurance carriers to continuously improve service delivery and the employee experience.
  • Develop and deliver employee education and communication materials that improve benefits awareness, understanding, and engagement.
  • Respond to employee and HR inquiries, resolving complex benefit issues with a high level of service.

Drive Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure benefit programs comply with local employment laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Partner with Legal and external advisors on country-specific compliance matters.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and governance standards.
  • Build and implement scalable processes and best practices that support ALO's continued international growth.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and enhance the employee experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-8+ years of experience managing employee benefits programs.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits, insurance markets, and broker/carrier negotiations.
  • Experience leading benefit implementations, annual renewals, and vendor relationships.
  • Demonstrated project management experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing executive presentations and employee-facing communications.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working both in-house and at a benefits consulting firm or insurance brokerage is highly preferred, bringing a balanced perspective on strategy, market competitiveness, and operational excellence.
  • Experience with HRIS and global benefits administration platforms is preferred.
  • Experience supporting international or global benefits programs is preferred.
