General Accountability

Profound Medical is seeking a highly analytical and motivated FP&A Analyst to support financial planning, forecasting, business analysis, and strategic decision-making across the organization. This role will play a key part in building a world-class FP&A function that provides actionable insights to executive leadership and supports the Company's growth strategy.


The FP&A Analyst will assist in developing financial models, rolling forecasts, annual budgets, long-range plans, KPI dashboards, and scenario analyses. The successful candidate will partner with business leaders across Commercial, Manufacturing, Clinical, R&D, and Corporate functions to translate operational activities into financial outcomes and support data-driven decision making.


Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Forecasting

  • Support monthly rolling forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range strategic plans.
  • Maintain and enhance driver-based forecasting models for revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, headcount, and cash flow.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and identify risks and opportunities impacting future performance.
  • Prepare variance analyses comparing actual results against budget, forecast, and prior periods.

Business Analysis & Decision Support

  • Analyze business performance trends, KPIs, and operational drivers.
  • Support preparation of monthly management reporting packages and Board materials.
  • Develop financial analyses to support strategic initiatives, hiring decisions, and resource allocation.
  • Build scenario models (base, upside, downside) to evaluate business risks and opportunities.

Reporting & Dashboard Development

  • Develop automated reporting solutions to improve efficiency and visibility.
  • Consolidate data from ERP, CRM, manufacturing, and operational systems into meaningful financial insights.
  • Ensure consistency and governance of KPIs and reporting metrics.

Strategic Finance

  • Support development of 1-year and 3-year business plans.
  • Perform market, competitor, and financial analyses to support strategic initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluating capital allocation decisions, investment opportunities, partnerships, and other growth initiatives.
  • Support financing, cash runway, and liquidity analyses when required.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and streamline planning processes.
  • Leverage BI tools, AI capabilities, and data analytics solutions to improve decision support.
  • Contribute to establishing FP&A governance, forecast processes, and documentation standards.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.


Certifications

  • CFA Level I or progress toward CFA designation is an asset.
  • CPA designation (or active enrollment) considered an asset.


Key Attributes

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, or related fields.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes.
  • Experience in a public company, healthcare, medical device, manufacturing, or technology environment is considered an asset.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel modeling skills.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools.
  • ERP experience (Infor preferred).
  • Strong understanding of financial statements and financial modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Power Query, Power Pivot, or AI-assisted analytics tools is an asset.

The expected base pay range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 CAD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and job-related factors.
