Job description

Position Overview The College of Veterinary Medicine's Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a faculty member to join the Zoological Medicine Service as a full‐time, clinical track Assistant or Associate Professor of Zoological Medicine. Teaching and Clinical Responsibilities Teach didactic courses in zoological medicine for professional students. Provide clinical training to students, residents, and interns in zoological companion animals, native Florida wildlife, and associated AZA‐accredited facilities. Mentor graduate students and supervise their research projects. Research and Collaboration Develop and conduct collaborative research projects at the UF Veterinary Hospitals (UFVH). Engage in scientific investigations that integrate clinical practice and translational research opportunities. Service and Facilities Provide veterinary care for zoological companion animals, native Florida wildlife, and three AZA‐accredited zoos: Lubee Bat Conservancy, Santa Fe Community College Teaching Zoo, and St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park. Work within a team that includes residents, interns, veterinary technicians, and support staff. Salary Expected Salary: Rank and salary will be based upon the successful candidate's professional qualifications and experience. Qualifications Required qualifications for this position include a DVM or equivalent degree from an approved institution, diplomate status or eligibility of the American College of Zoological Medicine (expected within 3 years of hire), and USDA Category II accreditation (expected within 1 year of hire).
