Job Summary/Basic Function
Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Allied Health and Nursing provide visionary leadership for the development, implementation, and administration of the University's allied health and nursing programs. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Executive Director is responsible for establishing a dynamic academic unit that prepares students for careers in nursing and allied health professions while advancing the University's mission of academic excellence, workforce development, and community impact. The Executive Director will lead the strategic development of new academic programs, recruit and support faculty and staff, build partnerships with healthcare organizations, and guide programs through accreditation processes. The Executive Director will also oversee academic operations, budgets, and personnel while collaborating with other colleges and university offices to support student success and institutional goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Leadership and Program Development
• Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing and allied health disciplines.
• Lead curriculum development processes aligned with state regulatory requirements, professional standards, and accreditation expectations.
• Guide programs through program approval, accreditation, and regulatory compliance processes with relevant accrediting bodies and state agencies.
• Establish strategic priorities and long-term planning for the growth of allied health and nursing programs.
• Ensure academic quality, assessment of learning outcomes, and continuous program improvement.
Faculty and Department Leadership
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff within Allied Health and Nursing.
• Provide leadership in faculty development, promotion and tenure processes, and scholarly and professional engagement.
• Foster a collaborative academic culture that supports teaching excellence, scholarship, and student-centered learning.
• Oversee departmental operations and ensure alignment with institutional policies and goals. Budget and Administrative Oversight
• Develop and manage the budgets, including personnel, operating expenses, and program resources.
• Allocate resources strategically to support program development, laboratory facilities, simulation environments, and instructional needs.
• Ensure responsible fiscal management and compliance with university policies and procedures. Strategic Partnerships and External Engagement
• Establish and maintain partnerships with healthcare systems, hospitals, clinics, community organizations, and workforce partners to support clinical placements, internships, and collaborative initiatives.
• Represent allied health with professional organizations, accrediting bodies, and regional healthcare leaders.
• Support fundraising, grant development, and external resource development to advance allied health and nursing initiatives.
Institutional Collaboration
• Collaborate with other college deans, academic departments, and administrative offices to support interdisciplinary programming, student success initiatives, and strategic priorities.
• Work closely with offices such as Enrollment Management, Institutional Effectiveness, Student Affairs, and Advancement to support recruitment, retention, and graduation outcomes.
• Participate in university governance, committees, and leadership initiatives.
Student Success and Workforce Development
• Promote student-centered programs that support academic success, licensure preparation, and career readiness.
• Support initiatives that increase access to healthcare careers and strengthen the regional healthcare workforce.
• Encourage experiential learning opportunities including clinical placements, simulations, and community-based learning.
Minimum Qualifications
• Doctoral degree in nursing, health sciences, public health, healthcare administration, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor.
• Demonstrated and progressive experience in academic leadership, such as department chair, program director, or equivalent administrative role.
• Experience with program development, accreditation processes, and regulatory compliance in nursing or allied health education.
• Experience managing budgets and supervising faculty and staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
