Job description

TOOL MAKER / PRECISION GRINDER

A family-owned company, Dynomax designs, manufactures, and develops high-precision machined components, injection molding and tooling, sub-assemblies, automated work cells, specialty machines, and machine tool spindles since 1986. We are seeking an experienced Tool Maker / Precision Grinder to join our manufacturing team. The Tool Maker / Precision Grinder will manufacture components for custom automation and machines. This includes analyzing specifications, setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts. Most work will be performed on a Mitsui Surface Grinder.

Tool Maker / Precision Grinder Job Responsibilities:

  • Visualize and compute dimensions and tolerances of assemblies based on specifications
  • Study blueprints or specifications and use GD&T to plan sequences of operations for the manufacturing of components and assemblies.
  • Perform machining operations and set-up on tool room equipment such as milling equipment, surface grinders, and turning lathes
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, smoothness and clearances of finished parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, indicators and microscopes
  • Perform critical bench and assembly operations including polishing, filing, grinding, shimming, and adjusting to fit, align, calibrate, adjust, assemble and ultimately finish projects
  • Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary
  • Work with engineers to give them technical support for prototyping and repairs.?

Tool Maker / Precision Grinder Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Manual Surface Grinding
  • Hold a +/- .0001 tolerance for flatness/dimensions/slots/diameters
  • Ability to read and interpret GD&T a plus
  • Ability to run manual mill, manual lathe, Prototrak mill, and other tool room equipment a plus
