Job description

Job Title:- Network Security DevOps Engineer
Location:- Spring Texas (On-Site)
Job Type:- Long Term Contract
*ONSITE - 5x week M-F

  • Oncall rotation - Week-long on-call rotation that will be split between three global regions which allows for a follow-the-sun model. Each teammate will perform on-call approximately every nine to ten weeks.
  • Interview - 60 minute via Zoom video

Responsibilities:
Overview

  • We are building a new Network Security DevOps organization focused on modernizing, automating, and operating enterprise firewall and network security services at global scale.
  • This role offers high visibility and real impact—you’ll help shape how security is engineered, deployed, and operated across complex environments.
  • As a Network Security DevOps Engineer, you’ll work hands-on with leading firewall platforms, cloud-native security, and automation tooling.
  • This is an ideal role for a driven engineer who takes ownership, demonstrates leadership, and thrives in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments.

Responsibilities

  • Firewall & Network Security Engineering
    • Design, implement, operate, and maintain Fortinet FortiGate firewalls across global data centers, offices, and business edge locations.
    • Support migration from legacy firewall platforms, including:
      • Juniper SRX
      • Cisco ASA
      • Cisco FTD
    • Leverage FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer for centralized configuration, automation, monitoring, and reporting.
    • Participate in the evaluation and potential adoption of FortiSOAR and FortiSandbox.
    • Partner with OT teams managing Palo Alto firewall environments.
  • Automation & DevOps
    • Build and maintain automation for firewall deployments and policy management.
    • Develop infrastructure-as-code and automation using:Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, Python, REST APIs, Jenkins, Jinja2, and YAML
    • Contribute to a Zero-Ops / automation-first strategy, reducing manual work and increasing reliability and scalability. 
  • Cloud & Virtual Firewalls
    • Deploy and manage virtual firewalls in AWS and Azure environments.
    • Support future SD-WAN initiatives, including a potential migration to Fortinet-based SD-WAN technologies.
  • Operations & Support
    • Provide monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, and vulnerability assessments.
    • Manage upgrades, patching, break/fix, and operational run activities.
    • Participate in a rotating global on-call (“follow-the-sun”) schedule.
    • Troubleshoot network and security issues using FortiAnalyzer and Splunk logs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with cybersecurity, network engineering, cloud, application, and delivery teams.
    • Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and standardized operational processes.
    • Engage stakeholders to translate business requirements into secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications
Required Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in network security engineering and/or operations.
  • Strong expertise with enterprise firewall platforms:Fortinet FortiGate (FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer highly preferred)
  • Cisco ASA / CSM
  • Cisco FTD / FMC
  • Juniper SRX (Junos Space)
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals:TCP/IP, OSI model, routing/switching, ACLs
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, NAT, DNS, and authentication technologies.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Automation and DevOps experience using Ansible, Terraform, Python, GitHub, Jinja2, REST APIs, Jenkins
  • Cloud security experience in AWS and Azure
  • Advanced troubleshooting of routing and switching, including VRF and VXLAN
  • Familiarity with Datadog, Algosec, and similar tools
  • Experience working in Agile / SAFe environments

Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)

  • Fortinet: FCA, FCSS, NSE series
  • Cisco: CCNA or CCNP Security
  • Security: CISSP, GIAC
