Job description

THE POSITION

FanDuel is seeking an Algorithmic Trading Manager to assist in the build of our algorithmic trading team that will leverage our world-class sports pricing algorithms . Reporting to the Market Making Senior Director of Quants & Algorithmic Trading, this leader will be instrumental in building a team to operate and evolve sophisticated automated trading systems that optimize our ongoing positions within the market. This role will work at the intersection of sports betting, quantitative modeling, and real-time trading to ensure we optimize for expected revenue and capital allocation. 

This role will be involved with the development and performance of our algorithmic market-making trading strategies, collaborating closely with quants, product and engineering, and commercial teams. The work will directly impact millions of dollars in daily trading volume and ensuring that we are consistently staying within the bounds of our overall Risk parameters.

In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, employees may be required to perform other such duties as assigned by the Company. This ensures operational flexibility and allows the Company to meet evolving business needs.

Core Trading Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy automated market-making algorithms for sports betting markets, optimizing for expected revenue, capital efficiency, and risk management
  • Manage day-to-day operations and execution of the algorithmic trading team that ensures 24/7 coverage and optimization
  • Build and maintain statistical forecasting models for sports outcomes, incorporating real-time data feeds, line movements, and market signals
  • Manage order flow and position risk across thousands of simultaneous markets, including combo markets ensuring +EV positions while maintaining appropriate risk exposure
  • Aggregate and synthesize pricing data from multiple sources including APIs, web scraping, and third-party providers to inform trading decisions
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve trading infrastructure, UIs, reduce latency, and enhance system reliability
  • Monitor and optimize P&L and trading performance, building and communicating trading strategies prior to significant events and conducting post-mortems following the events.
  • Develop and define risk optimization strategies to optimize capital utilization

Trading & Markets Experience

  • 5+ years of quantitative or algorithmic trading experience, preferably in sports betting, prediction markets, derivatives, or market-making
  • Demonstrated track record of positive P&L through systematic trading strategies
  • Deep understanding of market microstructure, liquidity provision, and order book dynamics
  • Experience with automated trading systems, including liquidity provision and position management
  • Familiarity with trading APIs and programmatic order execution
  • Strong programming ability in Python, C++, Java, Golang, or similar languages for production trading systems
  • Experience building statistical models and applying machine learning techniques to forecasting problems
  • Proficiency with data collection via APIs or web scraping
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and performing rapid quantitative analysis
  • Understanding of low-latency systems and performance optimization (preferred)

Domain Knowledge

  • Deep knowledge of sports betting markets and experience trading on traditional bookmakers
  • Understanding of sports statistics, handicapping, and predictive modeling for sports outcomes
  • Familiarity with different bet types (spreads, totals, moneylines, props, parlays, etc.)
  • Experience with poker, DFS, fantasy sports, or other skill-based competitive games involving game theory is a plus

The applicable salary range for this position is $156,000 - $204,750 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
