Job Summary:
Raytheon is the world's largest aerospace and defense company, dedicated to solving complex problems. They are seeking a Senior Algorithm Systems Engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership across advanced aerospace sensor programs, focusing on algorithm development and performance analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Perform system level performance analysis to evaluate and optimize advanced airborne sensor capabilities
• Develop, refine, and analyze algorithms to support mission-critical aerospace applications
• Conduct trade studies to compare technical approaches and guide engineering decisions
• Build statistical models and performance predictions for complex, multidisciplinary systems
• Execute detailed data analyses following Raytheon engineering processes and best practices
• Participate in formal and informal peer reviews; identify, track, and resolve technical issues
• Provide clear, timely task status updates and deliver high quality work products to the chief engineer
• Interface daily with engineering teammates, other team leads, and cross-functional partners to ensure technical alignment
• Support customer and program presentations by contributing technical content and insights
• Collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders to drive successful program outcomes
Qualifications:
Required:
• Typically requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: Signal Processing Algorithms or Models, Image Processing Algorithms or Models, Detection Theory or Machine Learning.
• Knowledge developing and implementing signal processing algorithms for airborne surveillance applications, including signal and image processing, physics-constrained modeling, digital communications, or detection and estimation theory.
• Experience in UNIX/Linux environments. Programming experience in C or C++, and hands on experience using MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued DoD Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred:
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM preferred).
• Mathematical modeling and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Experience using software change management tools, version control systems, and established software development processes.
• Realtime programming for embedded or mission critical systems.
