Job description

Job Summary:
Raytheon is the world's largest aerospace and defense company, dedicated to solving complex problems. The Algorithms Software Engineer II will be responsible for implementing system-level architecture updates and optimizing low-level code to enhance performance efficiency in algorithm software for high-performance computing environments.
Responsibilities:
• Work alongside scientists (physicists, mathematicians, signal processing experts, and more) to understand algorithm goals and limitations.
• Optimize software for performance, including parallel processing and leveraging GPUs and other processing accelerators.
• Evolve algorithms originating in Python and MATLAB into optimized C, C++, and CUDA code.
• Model and test new algorithms in high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
• Architect, design, implement, test, and debug integrated real-time software.
• Work within a cross-discipline team.
• Contribute to proposals as well as preliminary and critical design reviews.
• Have opportunity (optional) to travel for customer collaboration and community interaction.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance and meanwhile with a Secret clearance you will support meaningful unclassified and collateral tasks.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C, C++ or closely related software languages.
• Development experience on Linux-based systems.
• Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred:
• Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
• Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process.
• Hands-on experience with Git for version control and Gitlab/Jira for repository and issue management.
• Experience with optimized CUDA programming for Nvidia accelerators.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, and other analysis tools.
• Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance.
