Job description

University Instructors/PCG (UI-PCG) has multiple openings for Algebra Readiness Tutors in Portsmouth, VA. Our Instructors will provide small group or one-to-one research-based mathematics intervention to students in 6th through 12th grade who demonstrate deficiencies in math skills.
Duties May Include:
-Plans with teachers to provide developmentally appropriate learning lessons and activities that are structured to advance student's understanding of the fundamentals of mathematics, specifically pre-algebra and algebra.
-Implements and models proven instructional methodologies to help students develop the skills needed to meet grade level math proficiency and the Standards of Learning for secondary math objectives.
-Works with the classroom teacher to support progress monitoring of student growth. Works collaboratively with the teacher to plan, implement, and review needed interventions for specific students.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree
-Proficient in Algebra (pre-employment test required)
-Experience providing small group or one-to-one instructional support with students in the area of mathematics
-Basic technology skills to access resources will be needed
