Job description

Responsibilities

Join Peraton in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAA's Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) contract. As a trusted partner to the Federal Aviation Administration, Peraton helps deliver the systems and services that keep our nation's skies safe and connected.

We're looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management. This is your chance to make an impact on one of the world's most vital transportation infrastructures, working alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science, and systems integration.

At Peraton, you won't just support the mission - you'll define it.

Help shape the future of U.S. airspace safety and efficiency. We are seeking an Alaska Workstream Product Owner to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary liaison between FAA stakeholders, engineering teams, and program leadership, ensuring that requirements unique to Alaska's operational environment are effectively translated into deliverables. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain in-depth experience in federal contracting while supporting high-visibility aviation programs.

Work Location:

  • This position will work on site in the Anchorage, Alaska area.

In this position, you will:

  • Manage the product vision, roadmap, and backlog, enabling deployment of solutions that enhance safety, resiliency, and communications in one of the most challenging aviation regions in the world.

  • Serve as the Product Owner for the Alaska modernization workstream within FAA programs.

  • Define, maintain, and prioritize the product vision, roadmap, and backlog aligned to Alaska's operational needs.

  • Translate stakeholder requirements into user stories, features, and epics for engineering teams.

  • Collaborate with FAA leaders, local operators, and technical experts to define priorities and ensure alignment with mission objectives.

  • Support the deployment of infrastructure, communications, surveillance, and navigation solutions specific to Alaska.

  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and release prioritization with Agile teams.

  • Ensure solutions comply with FAA safety standards, cybersecurity frameworks, and resiliency requirements.

  • Provide progress reports, KPIs, and value delivery metrics to FAA leadership.

  • Identify and manage dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies for Alaska programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex product backlogs and feature prioritization.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with experience briefing executives.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.

Why This Role Matters:

The FAA is the cornerstone of aviation safety and innovation. As the Alaska Workstream Product Owner, you will play a vital role in ensuring that FAA systems and infrastructure meet the unique demands of Alaska, directly supporting the safety of local communities, commercial operators, and the traveling public.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience; or Masters degree and 10 years; or  Associate's degree and 14 years experience; or HS diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience.
  • Product ownership, systems engineering, or aviation program management experience.
  • Proven experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, or equivalent).
  • Strong background in aviation systems, infrastructure, or communications technologies.
  • Familiarity with the unique aviation challenges (remote operations, extreme weather, limited infrastructure).
  • Experience in federal IT or aviation compliance standards (NIST RMF, FISMA, SMS).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct FAA or NAS configuration management experience.
  • Experience with FAA acquisition processes, AMS standards, and safety frameworks.

  • degree in Systems Engineering, Aviation Management, or Business Administration.

  • Certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe POPM, or PMP.

  • Experience supporting FAA NextGen or Alaska aviation modernization initiatives.
