What can you expect?

As the Concrete Finisher, you will work onsite in Houston, TX and surrounding areas and will be responsible for finishing concrete surfaces, such as floors, walls, sidewalks, and driveways. In this position will use a variety of tools and techniques to ensure the concrete is smooth, level, and free of imperfections.

How will you do it?

  • Prepare the area before pouring concrete, such as setting up forms and installing rebar.
  • Pour and spread the concrete evenly.
  • Use tools such as trowels, screeds, and floats to smooth and level the concrete.
  • Add texture or patterns to the concrete surface if the contract specifies.
  • Apply sealants or other coatings to protect the concrete and enhance its appearance.
  • Install anchor bolts, steel plates, and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.
  • Repair and patch damaged or uneven concrete surfaces.
  • Operate equipment, such as concrete saws or grinders, to cut or shape the concrete.
  • Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
  • Comply with all safety requirements and participate in safety meetings.
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Review daily task assignments and clarify any material needs with the supervisor.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of concrete mixing and curing.
  • Knowledge of different types of concrete finishes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of hand-held and power tools including power vibrators, polishers, cutting saws, and edging tools.
  • All around knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in the construction field.
  • Experience with reading plans and understanding tasks at hand.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Work requires professional verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Works well in group problem solving situations.
  • Ability to actively listen and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work productively under pressure and to pay attention to the details of a project or task.
  • Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work with or without direct supervision.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.

Who is Brice Highway LLC looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years' experience in construction field required.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous concrete finish experience preferred.

Working Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Brice Highway, LLC. has a fast-paced multi-tasking work environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. Work is performed outside. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes and occasional overtime for immediate field support or bid processing may be necessary.
