Description

E&E Foods is launching a search for Refrigeration Technician at our Pacific Star plant in Kenai, Alaska. This job requires an experienced refrigeration technician that has experience maintaining and repairing refrigeration equipment using both freon and ammonia such as blast cells and tunnels, ice machines (specifically Buus and NorthStar M-series) and RSW systems in the plant, which includes compressors, control valves, pumps and electrical and electronics associated with the operation of pumps and motor controls. Finally, the successful candidate will be a team player with the ability to handle deadline driven environments.


The successful candidate:

The Refrigeration Technician must have previous refrigeration maintenance experience, salmon process blast/tunnel freezing experience & knowledge with industrial ice machines and basic maintenance skills. They must be self-directed, well organized and comfortable in a diverse living and working environment. In addition, they must be willing to work in a remote location under, at times, challenging conditions




Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintaining and repairing refrigeration equipment.

2. Assist with the repairing and maintaining plant equipment and machinery including generators, fish processing equipment, deck cranes, blast freezers, refrigerant-containing equipment, fish pumps, forklifts, and company vehicles.

3. Assisting with the operation of the ammonia or Freon refrigeration systems.

4. Maintaining current and accurate documentation of refrigeration and maintenance activities.

5. Develop familiarity with, and carrying out all tasks in accordance too standard operating procedures (SOPs), OSHA standards, environmental compliance requirements, and emergency response procedures.

6. Collaborate with the safety manager to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in the workplace.

Required Skills/Abilities:

ยท 5 yearsโ€™ experience as a refrigeration technician

ยท Advanced Refrigeration Knowledge

ยท Must be at least 18 years of age

ยท Must show availability to work in the USA

ยท Able to work with minimal supervision

ยท Able to take direction and respond to feedback

ยท Able to work in fast paced, deadline driven environment

ยท Must be able to stand, walk and work for 12+ hours, 7 days a week.

ยท ยทAdvanced knowledge of mechanical field and skills(hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, fabricating, etc.)

ยท Complex System Troubleshooting

ยท Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems

ยท EPA 608 certification required

Salary & Benefits:

ยท The starting wage is $24.00 to $35.00 per hour.

THE WORK ENVIRONMENT is weather dependent: ranging from warm and sunny to cold, windy and wet. Working outdoors in a remote environment is not an experience for everyone, and candidates should understand their limitations. People who struggle with mobility should consider employment in another department or a different industry.

NATURE & HOURS OF WORK: The season runs from January to October. Hours and days of work are entirely dependent upon the Alaska Department of Fish & Gameโ€™s announced fishing openings, which are determined by pre-/mid-season predictions and actual fish movement. While we can't guarantee any definite number of hours, when the fishers are fishing, we are buying - this requires working on a shifting, tidal schedule and can run anywhere from nothing to more than sixteen hours per day, seven days a week.

LIVING CONDITIONS: Our seafood processing facilities are a very remote part in Alaska. Housing โ€“ will have own room but shared bathroom facility.
