Job description

SUMMARY

Oversees and manages theorganization, administration, budget monitoring, periodic review, planning, development,implementation, and general effectiveness of collegewide programs and servicesfor students who are first-generation college students and/or bilingual(English/Spanish).

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

  • Oversees and manages all operational aspects of the Al Lopez Academic Alliance collegewide, including programs and services to support student success for first-generation students and/or students who will benefit from bilingual student support (English/Spanish).
  • Monitors the departmental budget and use of funds; effectively planning for expenses and authorizing expenditures.
  • Supervises staff and student interns/student employees; including coordinating the search process for new hires, as needed, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and development of employees.
  • Provides direct assistance to first-generation students and/or bilingual students (English/Spanish) related to navigating college processes (i.e., course registration and accessing support services). Direct assistance will be provided to individuals collegewide.
  • Serves as a liaison between the College and external stakeholders supporting the Al Lopez Academic Alliance.
  • Assists other program staff, when requested, with marketing of specific College programs to high school students and adults who are bilingual.
  • Develops and maintains effective communication with prospective students, current students, graduates, faculty, and community members who interact through the Al Lopex Academic Alliance (i.e., distribution of newsletters, scheduling of regular student meetings, and routine response to inquiries).
  • Coordinates the selection of student scholarship recipients and collegewide recognition events for students participating in the Al Lopez Academic Alliance in collaboration with Cuyahoga Community College Foundation and Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.
  • Coordinates the speaker selection process with faculty for the Al Lopez Academic Alliance speaker series events for current students, including all event details (i.e., marketing to students, room reservations, catering, and managing inquiries for two events annually, one in the fall and one in the spring.
  • Participates in Student Affairs Leadership Meetings, staff retreats, and student retention strategies.
  • Implements retention strategies that support students in their academic, personal and career goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
