Position Summary

The Business Central Developer / Analyst is a hybrid technical role responsible for developing, extending, and maintaining Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central while also serving as a hands-on functional resource for end-users and business stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of ERP, this role carries a roughly 70/30 split between development work and functional support — writing AL extensions, building integrations, and solving complex system problems on one side, while translating business requirements and supporting end-users on the other.

The ideal candidate brings deep BC development expertise, a strong grasp of core business processes across order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles, and the communication skills to operate effectively at both the technical and business level. This is a Houston-based hybrid role with a mix of on-site and remote work.

Key Responsibilities:

Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain AL extensions, customizations, and integrations within Business Central.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to support reporting, data analysis, and system troubleshooting.
  • Manage source control, deployments, and release processes using Azure DevOps.
  • Build and maintain integrations between Business Central and third-party systems.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Stay current with BC platform updates, wave releases, and the Microsoft roadmap.

Functional Support & Analysis

  • Provide expert end-user support for Business Central, including troubleshooting and ticket resolution.
  • Gather and document business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and development work.
  • Support sales, purchasing, assembly orders, and purchase order workflows within Business Central.
  • Assist with rental processes and provide end-user support for the rentals module as needed.
  • Conduct training sessions and develop end-user documentation to drive adoption and proficiency.
  • Be on-site as needed to provide in-person support, training, and stakeholder engagement across branch locations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and the Director of ERP to align system capabilities with business needs.

Qualifications:

  • 4–5+ years of hands-on Business Central development experience, including AL extensions and customizations.
  • Proficiency in Visual Studio Code, SQL Server, and Azure DevOps.
  • Strong working knowledge of BC functional areas: sales, purchasing, assembly orders, and purchase orders.
  • Solid understanding of order-to-cash and procure-to-pay business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, write technical specifications, and deliver solutions independently.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to engage credibly with both technical peers and business users.
  • Experience with equipment rentals in Business Central is a plus.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central certification is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule from the Houston, TX office and travel to branch locations as needed.

Company Perks at Bishop Lifting: Annual Base Salary, participation in our annual Corporate incentive program, PTO accrual, First Day Benefits- including health, dental, and vision. Company-paid Life Insurance, AD&D, STD, LTD, 401K with match & equity credits!
