Job description

Deckorators, a subsidiary of UFP Industries, is seeking a results-driven Senior Buyer to support sourcing and procurement for the Resins and Plastics category. This role is responsible for sourcing direct and indirect spend categories, building strong supplier partnerships, leading negotiation strategies, and supporting cost-effective supply solutions that align with business needs.

This is a strong opportunity for a strategic sourcing professional who understands commodity markets, vendor relationships, negotiation strategy, and the importance of supporting high-quality outdoor building products.

This position can be based in one of the following locations:

White Pigeon, MI
Selma, AL
Prairie du Chien, WI
Springdale, AR

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies material sources that support the needs of the Resins and Plastics category.

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and sales management of key supplier partners.

  • Translates supplier relationships into successful business plans, sourcing strategies, and category roadmaps.

  • Leads RFI, RFP, expressive bid events, and negotiation strategies to manage total cost of ownership and risk.

  • Leverages market data and cost modeling to develop negotiation strategies that deliver maximum value to the organization.

  • Procures products that meet or exceed quality, service, and price requirements for assigned categories.

  • Monitors current market levels and provides accurate insight into future market direction.

  • Develops and maintains a clear understanding of the processes and products produced at supported facilities.

  • Supports Engineering with specification management and engineering change requests for the Resins and Plastics vertical.

  • Supports business agreement development in partnership with Legal and other key stakeholders.

  • Proactively identifies and presents relevant products and sourcing opportunities to stakeholders.

  • Partners with Operations and Management to support sales, margin, supply planning, and business goals.

  • Prepares market analysis reports and sourcing strategy roadmaps as required.

  • Executes category supply plans in partnership with material managers by facility.

  • Supervises, coaches, and supports direct reports in the execution of assigned category strategies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of supply chain and strategic sourcing experience, preferably with Resins and Plastics.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as other business software.

  • Strong understanding of commodity market conditions and market dynamics.

  • Experience sourcing international vendors and products.

  • Knowledge of legal requirements, supplier agreements, and contracting best practices.

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and vendor management skills.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional partners.
