Job Summary:
The GSE Technician is an advanced level maintenance position responsible for independently performing complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics, and the capability to resolve high-impact equipment issues with minimal supervision.
Technicians III serve as the technical leaders within the shop, supporting the development of Technician I and II employees, contributing to reliability improvements, and ensuring equipment is safe, compliant, and ready for daily operations. Job Duties:
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems across all GSE types.

  • Complete complex repairs including engine work, hydraulic system rebuilds, electrical harness repairs, brake system overhauls, and major component replacements.

  • Interpret and apply OEM manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and diagnostic flowcharts.

  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on repeat or high impact failures and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability.

  • Mentor and support Technician I and II employees by demonstrating proper repair techniques, safety practices, and documentation standards.

  • Perform advanced electrical testing including voltage drop analysis, continuity testing, load testing, and charging system diagnostics.

  • Conduct advanced hydraulic diagnostics including pressure testing, valve troubleshooting, and cylinder performance evaluation.

  • Document all work performed using the company's CMMS (AssetWorks) following CCC standards and reliability focused documentation practices.

  • Ensure all repairs meet OEM specifications, safety requirements, Unifi, EPA and OSHA regulatory standards.

  • Assist with parts identification, inventory control, and verification of correct components for complex repairs.

  • Communicate effectively with Leads, Management, and Operations regarding equipment status, repair timelines, and reliability concerns.

  • Support shop organization, tool control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Two (2) to Five plus (5+) years of experience in automotive, diesel, heavy equipment, or GSE maintenance preferred.

  • Demonstrated the ability to independently diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

  • Strong proficiency with diagnostic tools including multi-meters, scan tools, pressure gauges, and electrical testing equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and OEM technical manuals.

  • Strong understanding of PM programs, predictive indicators, and reliability centered maintenance principles.

  • Ability to mentor and support less experienced technicians.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Must be 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Must be able to pass required background checks and drug screening.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Working conditions:
  • Must be able to work various hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Work performed in both indoor shop environments and outdoor ramp areas.

  • Exposure to weather conditions including rain, snow, heat, and cold.

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, aircraft, vehicles, fumes, and loud noise.

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
