Role Purpose Statement
Join our Minneapolis operation as a Food Safety & Quality Manager and play a critical leadership role in shaping a culture where food safety and quality are not just standards-but a way of working every day.
We are seeking a hands-on Food Safety & Quality Manager to lead and strengthen a culture where food safety and quality are embedded in every part of the operation. This role requires a leader who combines technical expertise with strong floor presence-coaching, guiding, and holding teams accountable to the highest standards.
You will oversee compliance with FDA, USDA, and company requirements, ensure audit readiness, and serve as a key point of contact for regulatory inspections.

Main Accountabilities
Food Safety & Quality Management
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, local regulations, customer specifications, and internal food safety and quality standards.
  • Manage the food safety program, ensuring effective FDA FSMA preventive controls and proper record-keeping.
  • Provide technical expertise in HACCP, food safety, sensory evaluations, and quality assessments.
  • Conduct monthly food safety assessments, microbiological testing, and review HACCP logs.
  • Use checklists to ensure consistent food safety program compliance.
  • Support leadership in audit readiness and coach staff for inspections.
  • Supervise pest control and related services, investigate food safety issues, and provide customer updates.
  • Perform product and service quality checks and collaborate with teams to sustain the food safety program.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, customers, and regulatory authorities.

Reporting
  • Monitor and prepare reports for the food safety and quality system.
  • Input monthly data into the company portal and maintain updated documentation.
  • Collect and track food safety and quality documents like environmental monitoring, sanitation, and safety performance.

Leadership
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and maintain a positive, proactive approach.
  • Work efficiently in fast-paced environments, demonstrating initiative and independence.
  • Analyze food safety and quality reports and take corrective actions.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate food safety staff.
  • Support company initiatives like HACCP, Lean Manufacturing, and Global Quality Standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related fields.
  • Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • Five or more years of experience in Food Safety roles with a minimum of 2 years management experience.
  • Technical proficiency in the areas such as of food microbiology, food chemistry, food safety, and food regulations.
  • Proven understanding of government regulations in relation to food processing as FDA FSMA, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), HACCP regulations and USDA.
  • Proven analytical and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be a collaborative leader who inspires, manages, coaches and respects people.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills that combines with an aptitude for multi-tasking.
  • Kknowledge of computer skills required, including use of technology (scanners, tablets, printers, copiers, etc.) and Microsoft Office programs, as well as cloud based systems.
