Job description

Position Summary
JetBlue is looking for an Analyst Airline Optimization - Horizons to be based at JetBlue's Support Center in Long Island City, NY. The Airline Optimization - Horizons team is responsible for understanding and evaluating the impact of Network plans on the Operation, and vice versa. The Airline Optimization - Horizons team will then support planning decisions across the company to maximize the airline's end-to-end profitability and ensure operational robustness.
The team's short-term responsibilities include helping to optimize schedules and operational setup by working across teams to prepare the schedule for deployment. Longer-term responsibilities focus on helping closely align JetBlue's Network plans with its operational footprint.
The ideal Analyst Airline Optimization - Horizons will be passionate about aviation and have excellent quantitative and interpersonal skills, helping them to excel at working across teams to deliver results. Analytical and modeling experience are required.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Identify hidden inefficiencies in Network or operational plans and develop opportunities to improve schedule setup
  • Work closely with Route & Schedule Planning teams to build schedule scenarios, assess the revenue/strategic impact of decisions, and execute Network changes as needed
  • Use planning scenarios to measure the cost impact of schedule and operational resources changes
  • Develop tools to forecast operability outcomes and disruption risk
  • Build relationships with Operational teams to help align short- and long-term planning decisions
  • Leverage project management and change management techniques to ensure end to end implementation of decisions
  • Improve schedule design and operational planning processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Supply Chain or a related quantitative field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • One (1) year of analytical or related experience achieved either via school or work experience
  • Strong capabilities with database querying (e.g., SQL) and/or high-level programming language(s) (such as Python or R)
  • Strong airline business acumen
  • Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication ability
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • Financial Modelling experience
  • Project Management exposure
  • Knowledge and/or experience in operations, aviation, or aerospace industry

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:
  • The base pay range for this position is between $64,350.00 and $89,600.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
