Program/Portfolio Manager – TechOps (Airline Maintenance)



Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced Program/Portfolio Manager to lead strategic and cross-functional initiatives within our (TechOps/Maintenance) organization. This role is responsible for managing complex projects that support aircraft maintenance, engineering, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and technology modernization. The ideal candidate has deep airline industry experience, understands the unique challenges of TechOps, and can successfully drive multiple workstreams while maintaining alignment with business objectives.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to see the broader strategic picture while effectively managing day-to-day project execution.


  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery of complex projects from initiation through implementation
  • Manage multiple concurrent workstreams across Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Reliability, Regulatory Compliance, and Technology teams.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, risk registers, and executive status reporting.
  • Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, priorities, and success metrics.
  • Identify dependencies across initiatives and proactively manage risks, issues, and competing priorities.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Technical Operations, IT, Operations, Finance, and external vendors.
  • Drive governance activities including steering committee updates, executive presentations, and stakeholder communications.
  • Ensure projects remain aligned with operational goals, regulatory requirements, and strategic business initiatives.
  • Translate business needs into actionable project plans while maintaining focus on both tactical execution and enterprise-wide impacts.
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve project delivery practice


Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Aviation Management, Information Systems, or a related
  • field.10+ years of project management experience, including managing large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Previous experience working within an airline Technical Operations (TechOps), Maintenance, Engineering, or Maintenance & Engineering organization is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of airline maintenance operations, engineering processes, maintenance planning, aircraft reliability, or related operational functions.
  • Proven ability to manage enterprise-level projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present effectively to executive leaders.


Preferred Qualifications


  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting digital transformation, maintenance systems, operational technology, or enterprise software implementations within an airline environment.
  • Familiarity with airline maintenance systems such as TRAX, AMOS, Maintenix, Ramco, or similar MRO platforms.
  • Experience working with FAA regulatory requirements and airline operational compliance.
  • Experience leading vendor-managed or system implementation projects.
