Asset Inventory Specialist (Contract)

Location: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) - Los Angeles, CA

Are you looking for an IT job that is more than just sitting in front of a computer all day? Have you ever wanted to 'travel' to 6 continents in one day while still going home every night? Working at a busy international airport, such as LAX, can make you believe you've done that!

Position Overview: As an Asset Inventory Specialist, you will provide critical on-site technical support, field engineering, asset management, and technical documentation across the airport campus. You will be responsible for surveying, mapping, troubleshooting, and maintaining a massive digital infrastructure including 5,000+ digital displays and media players, large-scale video walls, interactive kiosks, and associated network/power systems.

FLSA Status and Hours: This is a full time, three to six-month contract position that requires onsite shift work with 8-hour shifts scheduled Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Asset Discovery & GPS Surveying maintenance logs.
  • Document power and network connectivity, including UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, power circuits, and switch/fiber/copper connections.

Troubleshooting & Field Support

  • Troubleshoot complex digital displays, video walls, media players, touchscreens, kiosks, and associated AV hardware.
  • Resolve signal, resolution, orientation, HDMI, DisplayPort, and audio/speaker configuration issues.
  • Coordinate repairs, component replacements, system upgrades, and preventive/corrective maintenance.

Network & System Documentation

  • Develop high-quality asset inventory and documentation packages using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
  • Document hardware names, physical locations, IP addressing, subnet configurations, and communication flows from endpoint devices to Digital Content Management System (CMS) servers.

Required Skills:

  • Field & AV Hardware: Proven experience troubleshooting digital signage, displays, media players, video walls, and touchscreens.
  • Documentation Tools: Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and MS Visio for network and hardware mapping.
  • Clearance Requirements: Ability to pass all required airport background checks and comply with Sensitive Security Information (SSI) handling rules.
  • Desired Skills:
    • Hands-on experience with Samsung MagicINFO / VXT software.
    • Familiarity with Novastar display controllers and hardware.
    • Prior experience working in airport or high-security, mission-critical environments.
