Differing from traditional solutions, QAS offers customized field level system architecture, allowing for more accurate, time sensitive data analysis.The Controlled Environment Service Technician is responsible for testing, certifying, commissioning, and servicing controlled environment systems and equipment for our customers' critical environments. This role requires a strong technical background in HVAC systems, airflow systems, cleanroom performance, contamination control practices, and critical environment testing, along with excellent troubleshooting skills and a commitment to delivering an exceptional experience to our customers. Frequent local travel within Western Michigan is required.What you'll do:Perform job startup, checkout, testing, certification, and troubleshooting for new and existing airflow control, cleanroom, and air monitoring systems while following site-specific gowning and contamination control procedures.Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment performance data to determine proper balancing techniques and project management approaches.Perform testing and certification of cleanrooms, biological safety cabinets (BSCs), laminar flow hoods, fume hoods, HEPA filtration systems, and other controlled environment equipment in accordance with applicable industry standards and customer SOPs.Conduct airflow measurements, room pressurization verification, HEPA filter integrity testing, environmental monitoring, and assist in system startups utilizing certification and commissioning tools.Assist with installation verification, startup support, troubleshooting, and minor field adjustments to airflow systems, controls, and related equipment as needed.Follow all cleanroom and safety protocols, including proper gowning, de-gowning, and material handling procedures required for controlled environments.Maintain accurate project documentation, including installation records, as-built drawings, calibration documentation, certification records, and commissioning reports. Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports.Participate in job site meetings and final walk through on assigned jobs and complete all job closeout documentation and customer training.Attend training courses for multiple manufacturers and industry organizations to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work on lab control, controlled environment, and air monitoring systems.Perform other duties as assigned.Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Mechanical, electrical, or related technical degree preferred.2+ years of experience in controlled environment testing, TAB, HVAC systems, cleanroom certification, or related technical field.Thorough understanding of airflow principles, HVAC systems sequence and applications, room pressurization, filtration systems, and critical environment applications.Experience with cleanroom certification procedures, airflow measurement instruments, and environmental monitoring equipment.Knowledge of USP <797>, USP <800>, CETA guidelines, NSF standards, ISO cleanroom standards, and contamination control practices preferred.Experience working in controlled environments with strict gowning protocols preferred; ability to properly gown and de-gown in accordance with cleanroom and USP requirements.Excellent critical thinking skills, self-motivation, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work in a team environment and communicate clearly with customers, mechanical contractors, subcontractors, and fellow employees.Proven analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, manuals, electrical diagrams, and control sequences.Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).Good verbal and written communication skills.Physical Demands:This role requires frequent local travel to jobsites across Eastern Michigan. Willingness to work overtime as needed to support critical environment shutdowns on customer's schedule.Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
