Job Description:

Quevera is seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support mission-critical programs in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems that support enterprise data processing and mission-critical operations.

Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will develop Python-based data capabilities using Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, Trino, and Kubernetes. You will analyze user requirements, translate operational needs into software design and performance requirements, troubleshoot existing applications, and enhance the reliability and performance of distributed data-processing systems.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to build and sustain scalable data solutions, improve development processes and technical documentation, and deliver reliable software capabilities supporting critical national security missions.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems.
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design, functionality, and performance requirements.
  • Design and develop Python-based software and data-processing capabilities.
  • Develop, schedule, and maintain data workflows and pipelines using Apache Airflow.
  • Develop and support distributed data-processing capabilities using Apache Spark.
  • Develop and optimize queries using Trino to support access to distributed data sources.
  • Deploy and maintain containerized software and data-processing workloads using Kubernetes.
  • Debug existing software, identify root causes, and correct defects.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements to software reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Modify existing software to add new features, improve performance, and respond to changing system requirements.
  • Develop and execute tests to validate software functionality and performance.
  • Integrate software components into new or existing systems and operating environments.
  • Write, review, and maintain software and system documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to technical documentation and software-development process standards.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and other technical stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Experience developing software using Python.
  • Experience developing and managing workflows using Apache Airflow.
  • Experience developing distributed data-processing capabilities using Apache Spark.
  • Experience accessing or querying distributed data using Trino.
  • Experience deploying or managing applications and workloads using Kubernetes.
  • Experience analyzing user requirements and translating them into software design and performance requirements.
  • Experience debugging existing software and correcting defects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Four (4) years of additional Software Engineering experience on projects involving similar software processes may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.


Desired Skills:

  • Current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CySA+, GSEC, GICSP, CND, SSCP, or CCNA Security).
  • Experience developing and maintaining enterprise data pipelines.
  • Experience supporting distributed data-processing platforms.
  • Experience optimizing software and data-processing performance.
  • Experience developing technical documentation and improving software-development process standards.
